Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Morning Fitness

Chapter 31: Morning Fitness

William, who had been engaged in some strenuous "fitness" with Diana Rig, was woken by her early in the morning.

He opened his eyes to see Diana, already neatly dressed, turning from the makeup mirror in her chair. She turned her head and said, "My dear, I have to go. It's getting late, and if I don't go in today, my supervisor will kill me."

William sat up, placing his hands on Diana's shoulders with a serious smile. "We can't just abandon our morning exercises halfway through. I need to supervise you and see the effects of your training these past few days."

"William Devinshire, you beast! Aren't you tired at all? God, I'm so late. I can't imagine how badly I'll be scolded," Diana lamented, glancing at her watch.

"Haha, that's simple." William pulled out a digital audio recorder and showed it to Diana. "I'll give you an exclusive. Once you get back to the station, not only will your supervisor not scold you, he'll probably praise you. After all, you're the only reporter who can get this close to me."

"You mean it, William?" Diana asked, looking excitedly at the recorder in his hand.

"Of course, dear. You're my first woman; who else would I help?" William nodded.

"Oh, please. With how skilled you are at these 'fitness' activities, you think I'd believe this is your first time? Tell that to someone who'll believe it, you liar," Diana said, rolling her eyes.

William thought to himself that while this body was indeed experiencing this for the first time, his soul certainly was not.

England was truly a land of wonders. Looking at Diana's impressive bust and her paper-thin waist, William felt that this was what life was all about.

Sensing his gaze, Diana suddenly stood up and moved away from him, saying warily, "Don't even think about it, William. I don't want to 'work out' with you again this week. I'm completely exhausted."

Seeing the genuine fatigue on Diana's face, William mused on the disadvantages of having such a fit body. He hadn't even broken a sweat, yet the beautiful woman with him was already worn out. It was frustrating. What was he supposed to do for the rest of the week?

"Alright, alright, I'll let you go for today. We can take some pictures for your story tomorrow."

"Just put the recorder on the table. I'll take some pictures of it now. Don't try to trick me. And don't you dare ask me to work out this week. I need to rest."

"Do you really need that long? How about the day after tomorrow?" William compromised.

"No. One week. I have no energy for work as it is. I need to rest for a whole week," Diana insisted, shaking her head.

"Damn it, this body is too good. It's a real problem when I can't even find a partner to keep up," William muttered to himself.

"Okay, I'll let you go. We'll talk about it next time." With that, William picked up the phone to order breakfast from the front desk, then went to the bathroom to wash up. When he came out, he saw Diana, camera in hand, snapping picture after picture of the audio recorder.

After breakfast, William drove his new Porsche 911 to drop Diana off at the television station.

Before she got out of the car, William remembered the upcoming archery competition and had an idea. "My dear, I just thought of something brilliant. When you talk to your supervisor, tell him that I have specifically requested you, by name, to be the host of the program covering the event. Do you think he'll agree?"

"Really?" Diana's face lit up with excitement.

"Of course. Who else would I help? When you see your supervisor, if he asks about an interview, tell him I'll agree on the condition that you host the show about the competition. I'll help you get more screen time. You're so beautiful, you might even become a permanent host at your station."

"Oh, darling, you're the best! I love you! It's a deal, then. You must help me. Maybe… maybe I can even accompany you for another fitness session soon," she said, leaning in to give William a passionate kiss, guaranteeing her future availability.

"Heh, I knew that would work," William laughed. "Of course. I'll be busy for a couple of days, but I'll call you after."

"Okay, dear. Don't forget. I'll be waiting for you to call me for our workout," she said, giving him another long goodbye before getting out of the car.

William watched as the ethereal-looking Diana walked away, entering the TV station with her head held high. He muttered to himself, "She's so pragmatic. The chance at fame is more important than her own exhaustion. But she's a good person. It's not easy for someone so beautiful to make it in this business. If she were willing to trade on her looks, she wouldn't still be a simple reporter with no on-screen presence." Thinking of Diana's stunning figure, William felt a stir of desire.

Shaking off the thought, William took out his phone to call Gareth Mallory, his soon-to-be boss.

The call connected, and Gareth Mallory's teasing voice came through the line. "William, the lovebird finally has time to call his future boss. The papers these last two days have been full of your sweet, romantic escapades with Diana Rig. You're being so high-profile that certain people on Downing Street are getting upset, William."

"Ha, their unhappiness means nothing to me. As long as you're not upset, I don't care about them. Besides, what power does the special group even have anymore? Aren't all the real decisions made by your security committee? Why would a billionaire like me want to be a government thug? If it weren't for my grandfather, Henry, I wouldn't go near that damned M-group."

"Ha, others would kill for this position, and only a playboy like you would look down on the M-group. Once you officially join us, you'll understand how much power we truly wield, William. This is the mission of the Devinshire family. You can't escape it; it was your destiny the moment you were born in England."

"Hah, fine, Gareth. So where am I supposed to meet you? My God, I don't even have a location. You can't expect me to just walk into headquarters by the Thames, can you?" William complained.

"In half an hour, drive to London Bridge. I'll have someone pick you up there," Mallory said before hanging up.

Driving to the landmark, William sat in his car, watching the traffic and tourists on London Bridge. He sighed to himself. *I never thought I'd become a billionaire one day. I guess this movie world is pretty good after all. I can be a rich man, buy sports cars and yachts, and flirt with beautiful women. It might even be fun to be a spy when I'm bored. Anyway, the system just activated my agent specialization. I'll give it a try. If it's too dangerous, I'll run. If it's too complicated, I'll just pay someone else to do it.*

He had no intention of doing anything that didn't benefit him. After all, he wasn't a real Englishman.
