Vale's POV
"Everyone I love will die?" My voice cracked as Zephyr's words hit me.
"If the prophecy forces the kings to submit, yes," Zephyr confirmed grimly. "The magic will use their deaths as fuel to break the kings' resistance."
I looked at Dante, whose silver eyes were full of determination instead of fear. At Adrian, who was already calculating escape routes. At Kieran, whose demon magic flickered with protective energy around Luna and Papa.
"Then I won't let that happen," I said firmly.
"Vale," Luna said gently, "maybe we should consider—"
"No." I cut her off. "I'm not running from this. Those other Moon Children failed because they were alone. I have all of you."
Zephyr's golden eyes studied me carefully. "You sound confident for someone who just learned she might have to sacrifice everything."
"I'm not confident," I admitted. "I'm terrified. But I'm also tired of being afraid."
