Chapter 36 - The Blood Price

Vale's POV

"You lied to me," I whispered, staring at Vincent with complete betrayal burning in my chest.

"I did what was necessary," Vincent replied coldly. "You would never have walked into my trap willingly."

The fake children-creatures circled closer, their disguises melting away to reveal claws and fangs. Luna tried to step in front of me, but one of them knocked her aside with a casual swipe.

"Luna!" I reached for her, but shadow chains erupted from the ground and wrapped around my wrists.

"Don't struggle," Vincent advised as the dark magic burned against my skin. "These chains are made specifically for moon witches. The more you fight, the more they hurt."

He was right. Every time I tried to pull free, the chains sent fire through my arms.

"Now then," Vincent continued, walking closer. "Let's discuss your future."

"I don't have a future with you," I spat.
