Rachel had just gotten comfortable in her office seat, with the stack of papers piled up and waiting on her desks. When her phone buzzed violently on the table, showing Nicholas's name.
Her heart raced before she could stop it.
She first thought of not answering him. Every time she took his calls, her life seemed to get more chaotic. But yet interesting and even something else mixed in, something else she didn't want to admit, which made her tap the bright screen.
"Rachel," Nicholas's voice sounded steady and sure, like always. "We found out where the video came from."
She gasped. "What?"
"It came from a house. About an hour from my penthouse, I'm going there now. You should come too."
Rachel held the phone tighter.
She wanted to refuse, to say it wasn't her problem any more.
But it was her problem, one that she had reached out for help, and she needed answers.
David was at school, her day was looking tight but she could change that.
