Chapter 216: How Can You Build a Beautiful House Without Materials?

Hearing Mike's words, Sarah, who was sitting there eating roasted duck thigh rice, glared at him.

'How could he say such a thing! How embarrassing! What's wrong with the name "Master Architect"? You always have to have hope! Besides, it may be a bit ugly, but it's still a house, right?'.

"Hmph, don't judge me. I don't think it would be much better if you tried. This game seems simple, but in reality it's quite difficult. Just imagining the structure of the house is a bit heavy," Sarah told Mike with dissatisfaction.

This was Sarah's most direct experience. She hadn't experienced the game much yet. But just by building a house alone, she felt that she could play for a long time.

And although the game's controls were not particularly complex, the houses and castles in Alex's official blog trailer were beautiful. But when she tried to build a house herself, she understood the difficulty.

Since there is no point of reference, you cannot copy what you imagine. Building a house only with your imagination is incredibly difficult. Especially when your imaginary house looks so much like a real one that you can't help but associate it with it.

But the key is that in the game, everything is built with cubes. If there is something different from what you imagined, you can only use your own experience to replace the blocks.

When making these substitutions, the image becomes completely different from what you imagined.

"I get it!". Sarah clapped, with an expression of sudden enlightenment on her face as she picked up the roasted duck rice from the table.

"What do you get?". Mike sat down in Sarah's seat, bewildered.

Before, while Sarah was eating, he had also sat in her seat to try Minecraft. Although he had not seen the beginner's tutorial like Sarah, he had already mastered some basic controls. He had just crafted a stone hoe and was about to look for coal to extract two pieces and make torches when Sarah's cry startled him.

"Hmph! Why did I build a building with such a peculiar shape?" Sarah asked Mike.

Hearing this, Mike couldn't help but complain.

'Look at that prison. How could it be called unique? It was simply ugly! Incredibly ugly!'.

Of course he wouldn't say it out loud, he just pretended to listen.

"As the saying goes! An expert cook cannot cook without rice."

"Of course, I may not have reached the title of master architect yet, but I think my skills are more than that. The main reason I couldn't build this house was the lack of materials. That's why I couldn't achieve the style I wanted!", Sarah spoke with increasing confidence.

Looking at the wooden "prison" in front of her, Sarah had to admit: it was really ugly.

She also reflected: after all, it was built entirely of a single piece of wood. How could a house be so beautiful?.

'If I had more than one material, this room would be much more beautiful!'.

So Sarah simply left the game, looked at the saved game titled "Architect World" and deleted it.

A somewhat dark story.

So Sarah chose Creative Mode and gave her character a new name: Bella.

"What kind of name is that? Is she no longer Master Architect?" Mike asked, sitting next to her, with curiosity upon seeing Sarah's new name.

"Hmm, haven't you heard of the expression 'ghostly craftsmanship'? Bella is the protagonist of that expression." Sarah snorted, explaining the story behind her name.

Mike, standing next to her, took a sip of water and said nothing. They didn't know what the house would be like; the only reference they had was the previous 'Black Prison Room'.

But the name suited them perfectly.

'Bella and ghostly craftsmanship! I want to see what you can build.'.

Mike, sitting next to her, stared at the screen, ready to see what kind of amazing building Sarah could create.

"This creative mode is full of things!", Sarah exclaimed in amazement upon entering the game.

Compared to survival mode, this creative mode was completely different. Not only could she control her character's flight, but she could also build buildings freely. Destroy things with a single click, and she had unlimited resources. And most importantly, she could summon a wide variety of materials, practically none of which she had seen before. There were crystals of all kinds, doors and windows, blankets and more; literally, everything.

Upon seeing all these materials, Sarah was filled with excitement, and an inexplicable confidence came over her.

"Do you think I'm terrible at building houses? I'll show you my skills." Thinking of Mike's words, Sarah's expression became serious.

From now on, she had to prove her worth. Prove that the cell she had built was definitely an accident.

Looking at the various materials in her inventory and taking advantage of her ability to fly, Sarah quickly selected a beautiful place. First, she laid the foundations as before. Now that she had the materials, Sarah felt that she could be a little extravagant.

She wanted a bigger house.

She started by filling the terrain with stones. Then, her mind quickly went through the various architectural wonders she had seen in her travels. She selected the building materials and stacked eight pillars. Then, surrounding each pillar, she began to build the perimeter wall, using it as a load-bearing support.

She polished the foundations little by little, spreading blankets and other elements randomly on the ground. Meanwhile, Sarah discovered an extraordinary brick: fluorite. In fact, it glowed brightly, effectively replacing the torches.

Upon observing the unfinished roof, she decided to cover it with fluorite. This way, it would remain shiny.

She used glass, diamond ore, emeralds: anything that looked beautiful to her.

After about fifteen minutes, Sarah felt that she was almost done and stepped back to admire it. But then she fell silent.

The house in front of her was strange. While she was building it, Sarah had imagined it magnificent and majestic. But as she continued to observe the actual structure, she couldn't figure out what had gone wrong.

Somehow, it had become different from what she had imagined. It felt a little strange. While the design was recognizable as that of a house, it just looked strange.

Square and square, it looked perfectly orderly. The entrance was made of a material similar to marble, with glass replacing the walls, creating a transparent effect.

The roof was made entirely of fluorite, shiny and resplendent.

Sarah modeled the entire structure according to the symmetrical architecture of the Royal Palace. She even built a long staircase at the entrance, dug a trench, filled it with water, and placed a wooden bridge.

It was a brilliant idea, but just like the representations and the real building, the difference between what she had imagined was huge!

The fluorite shone, but a roof with so much fluorite seemed strange to her. And the channel at the entrance, which she had imagined as a place with small bridges, running water, and houses, now looked like a sewer.
