Chapter 110: Online Press Conference

On the official blog, numerous players tagged Alex daily. As for the main content, in addition to the loyal fans of Three Kingdoms Tactics and Fall Guys, who continue to play, most are eagerly awaiting Dark Souls.

The official information published so far consists of a promotional trailer from the expo, along with conceptual art of various weapons and environments. The only thing players know about the game is that the protagonist seems to carry a flame of hope and that the world will be darker, probably a little heartbreaking like Valiant Hearts: The Great War.

However, many players have expressed their acceptance. The plot is just a little more traumatic. After having lived through the exciting experience of Valiant Hearts: The Great War, they can handle it.

The only remaining question is when the game will be released. However, Alex did not keep players waiting for long, given their enthusiasm.

Announcements for Dark Souls have appeared in various video game media and video websites, and many are enthusiastic because the promotional material alludes to various things. For example, the unique freedom and distinctive combat system make players eagerly await these developments.

Meanwhile, a physical version of Dark Souls is already being produced. Unlike previous games, the primary medium for the alternate world is digital gaming. Physical copies are usually used as collector's items. For example, the deluxe edition includes an extra action figure and an official art collection.

However, the most exciting news for players is the upcoming launch of Dark Souls. Nebula Games will host a live online press conference, where it will present the latest gameplay demos and the release date.

This news, coupled with the promotional campaign, has instantly sparked interest in Dark Souls, surprising the video game industry.

"Alex seems to be taking Dark Souls very seriously!"

"Yes, judging by the current promotional scale, it's not as big as top-tier projects like Aether Games and NetDragon, but it's still a significant investment for the PC platform, right?"

"After all, this is Alex's first big-budget production, and Nebula Games' resilience is quite high lately!"

"Yes, not to mention the long-running Three Kingdoms Tactics, the launch of Fall Guys after the winter holidays has already earned Nebula Games a fortune."

"But I'm more interested in the ARPG Dark Souls. Judging by Nebula Games' publicity, it seems a little different from traditional ARPGs!" "What could be so different? Can ARPGs be anything special? They focus on story, action, or level-based stats. Aren't these the main ARPG genres?"

"I don't think it's that simple. After all, all the works Alex has produced since his debut have been quite unexpected." "That said, none of his previous games were large-scale. This is Alex's first big project, so it's not certain that it will perform well."

As Nebula Games began to promote Dark Souls, many designers in the video game industry were enthusiastic about the idea.

However, ordinary players did not consider these factors at all. They just hoped that time would pass quickly so they could attend Nebula Games' online press conference and hear the official launch of Dark Souls.

Time passed and the day soon arrived.

The live stream took place in Nebula Games' offices, which were specially decorated. A custom figure of the Fire Keeper from Dark Souls and a bonfire with a spiral sword rested on the desk. Behind them, an artistic poster of Dark Souls hung.

Nebula Games' live stream room also appeared on the homepages of major live streaming platforms. This agreement had already been finalized with the platforms, making it a mutually beneficial commercial collaboration.

During the online press conference, a rare collector's figure of Dark Souls and a deluxe edition of the game were also raffled off. A random drawing was also held for regular players to receive a CD key for the standard edition.

The live stream hadn't even started, and the room's screen was just the background. However, numerous players, upon hearing the news, were already flooding the room with comments. Even with a limit of only one comment every half a minute, the comments were still a constant stream.

It is evident that Nebula Games has a large number of followers thanks to its numerous high-quality indie games. Of course, most were just there to watch the action.

After confirming all aspects, including the video stream and screen transitions, Alex appeared on camera just in time.

"Hello to everyone watching the live stream! I'm Alex, the lead developer of Dark Souls. I believe everyone is watching this stream today with a single goal, so I won't waste any more of your time. Let's get straight to the point. Let's see what Dark Souls looks like in action!"

Without any preamble or unnecessary compliments, Alex got straight to the point. After all, this is a live launch event, and everyone is here to see the game. Why bother with all that clutter?

As soon as Alex finished speaking, the stream instantly switched to another scene. Unlike the previous promotional animation, this was a pure game demo. The UI could be clearly seen in the video. The video lasted approximately one minute and showed a boss battle and a minion battle.

The first creature that caught our eye was Gundyr, the Judge of Cinder, from Firelink Shrine. His imposing figure was daunting, and the halberd-like weapon he wielded was even more terrifying. After the boss's attack, the ground cracked in a way that could be clearly seen in the video. The characters in the video were subsequently recorded by Alex.

It was mainly used to showcase some of the game's basic operations, such as blocking, rolling, shield parrying, executing, and backstabbing monsters. Of course, to surprise players, Gundyr of Cinder's second phase was directly omitted.

At the same time, other things were shown, such as jumping while running and the tips on the ground that served as a guide, which were basically shown in the video. Countless players who watched the live stream, as well as some media and industry designers, debated and expressed their own opinions.
