I spent the rest of the day clearing out as much of the ROR as I could. I found another few minor trinkets worth keeping for sale but otherwise it was all junk or cursed to hell and back. Nothing this time was worth keeping for myself though but that was understandable. The room was incredibly large and absolutely stuffed with all sorts of junk so the few treasures there were in the minority. Nothing interesting happened over the next few days beyond the usual scope of things.-
Classes were easy for me and I was earning Ravenclaw enough points to keep it higher than our only real competitor in the form of Slytherin. Gryffindor had Hermione and wasn't bad on the points side of things but the house had to contend with Snape at all years so it lost points constantly. I had to shake my head at the poor showing most of my peers had. Most of them procrastinated on homework and had to panic finish it the night before it was due and that meant they were in a weird state of stress and relaxed.-
The performances in class could be excused as inexperience but the homework problem was sad. I genuinely pitied Hermione who was trying in vain to drag her own housemates work up as hard as she could. Unfortunately it was painfully clear that she was only making them dislike her instead. She was rather sharp with her speech and made it sound like she thought them all idiots while she was trying only to help. She'd come to me again for further advanced studies and I tried to explain her problem to her but she couldn't understand it. She wasn't exactly socially inept or anything but the idea that her every word and very demeaner offended her housemates was alien to her.-
I traded Whitebeard another batch of fruits with this set being slightly less impressive. Only one logia this time, the smoke one, with the rest being paramecia. I had a bit of interest in the kake kake no mi, or the bet bet fruit. It was an interesting fruit that had enormous potential. To put it simply the fruit allowed the user to "bet" on things in exchange for outrageous outcomes if they win. For example they could bet their lifespan that they would win a fight to the death or something like that and if they succeeded their lifespan would increase dramatically.-
There were a few rules to the fruit according to Whitebeard but those were basically just making the better do so honestly. To put it simply the users bets couldn't be cheated to win and had to be genuinely fair gambles. High risk high reward was the modus operandi of this fruit. Besides that though there was nothing worth mentioning. The next time something worth mention happened was on the last week of September, that Tuesday in fact.-
I woke up at the crack of dawn like usual and tempered my body a bit as I had gotten into the habit of doing in the mornings and evenings. I rinsed off afterwards and got ready for classes. I waited in the common room with two separate books open and being read on the little corner table I had all but claimed as my own. The other students would look at me doing that and mutter about how unfair life was sometimes but it was no new sight. I had been doing it since I got the third thought stream after all. -
I decided to check up on David on a whim to see how he was doing. My hope was that with the specimen implant and all those funds he'd be able to maximize his stealth capabilities by strengthening his body. When the screen eventually finished coming up and connecting to him I was a bit surprised by what I saw. Gone was the scrawny kid from before and in it's place a well muscled guy with a swimmers body but cranked up to ten. I eyed his left arm that was covered in a sleeve while his right arm was fully exposed.-
"Yo choom this ware is crazy! I mean look at me! This happened in two days!" he said excitedly as he flexed.
"Yes I thought as much. You must have leveled up. What stats did you increase and how many levels have you gotten so far?" I asked curiously.
"Speed, weight and stamina mostly. Twelve levels so far. Did you know this thing could download every blueprint in existence? It was fucking crazy when it did it! Vik had just chipped it in when it said something about not being connected to some database and giving me admin privilege. Then it transformed to look like a flower almost, it was nova as hell!" he said making me stiffen.
"Show me." I said and he shrugged before pulling up his left sleeve which made me suck in a hiss as I recognized the Alpha survivor implant.
"Pretty preem right?" he said with a grin.
"I'm going to be honest here, I'm at a loss. That's NOT how the thing usually works." I said seriously.
He paused "It's not?" he asked and I nodded.
"Not outside it's functions mind you but that implant and all the ones like it don't take that particular form unless certain conditions are met. Ones you simply can't fulfil. You said it changed after giving a message about not being connected to some database right?" I asked and he nodded.
"Yeah it was crazy. It said it wasn't connected to a database and then that it detected a new one before downloading everything from the net, both the new and old one. Got the blueprints for literally everything. Been using them to make preem stuff that we've been selling. Got my levels from it too!" he said honestly.
