Once I was truly alone I grit my teeth and opened up my inventory to reach in and pull out an item I needed, the one piece physique ability stone. While I wasn't lying about my willingness to subject myself to the quizzes of the various professors I knew that if I wanted the best chance of fully recovering I had to go beyond normal methods. The physique of those in the one piece world was well known for their ability to bounce back from injuries that would prove fatal in any other situation.-
And not slowly either in most cases as there were examples of a good nights sleep after a grand feast returning someone horribly injured to almost perfect health. Additionally this event gave me a massive scare as it all but pointed out how weak I really was. I almost died. If I wasn't at least somewhat compatible with the spears power I would have and that idea terrified me. I needed to put potential profit to the side temporarily to focus on making myself safer first and above all even more compatible with the spear. With that in mind I chose to go all out with the one piece package on myself.-
To be fair haki was SUPPOSED to go with the physique since it relied on the body to begin with. I only refused to take it on account of the fact I didn't feel the need to have a body so ridiculously strong, jokes on me huh? I didn't really mind the potential side effect of maybe growing unusually tall all that much since shrinking potions did exist. I could also just transfigure myself smaller if I got skilled enough with that field of magic.-
{Ability stone detected, acquire ability Y/N?}
I mentally agreed and the stone turned to sand that sank into the bandages of my right hand and creating a warmth that spread comfortably through my arm to the rest of my body. The warmth lasted for only a brief moment before I frankly felt no different than before. I wasn't too surprised by this as the physique was passive and not active like magic or haki so there was nothing to feel. Still if nothing else this should greatly accelerate my training of my haki as well as my recovery. I hoped the physique would be enough to restore my eye as well but I wasn't going to delude myself into fully expecting it.-
With nothing to do and being unwilling to go to sleep I closed my eyes and fully extended my observation haki. My perception showed me the bed I was laying on the clearest due to it's proximity but things got "blurrier" the further from me my haki extended. Observation haki wasn't exactly sight in how it worked but saying it wasn't similar would be wrong. It was like experiencing the world from two different perspectives simultaneously. Obviously you had the normal way you perceived the world but then there was the sort of third person perspective centered around yourself that was observation haki as well.-
At my current skill level my observation haki was not even at the quality of my normal perspective much less greater. I had all the time in the world to fix this problem though since I was currently bedridden. I didn't push my limit for my haki but rather worked to make the distance I currently had covered better. Thanks to the skill for the ability I didn't have to fumble about with this but simply followed the path already set out for me.-
It was interesting how Madam Pomphrey went about her business in the hospital wing with a confused almost paranoid look as she kept looking around for whoever was observing her but failing. She even used the spell "hominum revelio" to try and reveal any nearby people only for the spell to tell her it was just me in the wing. I almost felt bad for the poor woman as she must have thought she was losing it. I had to admit her instincts were quite sharp though to immediately identify the feeling of being observed and go looking for the source.-
After a few hours of this however she went from paranoid to fed up with it and cast a spell I was unfamiliar with nonverbally that caused my haki to get repelled viciously causing my head to throb. To say I was caught off guard would be an understatement as even in the skill there was only two ways to cancel someone elses observation haki. The first was clashing your own haki against it which caused a type of interference that made things harder to discern than normal. The second was using conquerors haki to "kill" the offending observation haki.-
In truth this was literally just saturating your surroundings with so much conquerors haki that any weaker haki was all but rendered impossible to extend beyond the user. This spell presented a third option as it was nothing like these two normal options. It felt almost like my haki had been struck with a baseball bat literally damaging it. The only theory I could come up with was it was a spell that dispelled things of a spiritual nature that lingered. What with the existence of ghost, poltergeist and other not so pleasant spiritual based entities it made sense there existed magic to repel them.-
For dark spiritual creatures I knew there was the Patronus charm but this was clearly something else since there was no accompanying light show. Massive migraine aside I was more pleased than angry to discover that such magic existed. Learning such a thing in a safe environment like this is far more preferable than doing so in a hostile one. While I was waiting for my headache to subside Madam Pomphrey approached my bed holding a tray of items. There were bandages, gauze pads, wound cleaning solution and a bottle of a blue potion I couldn't identify based off my textbooks knowledge.-
I opened my eyes as she set the tray on the nightstand next to my bed. Careful to avoid touching the spear that I could have sworn buzzed slightly at her proximity like it was warning her.
"Here to change my bandages?" I asked calmly.
She nodded "Proper wound care is vital to recovery. You will also have to drink this potion as well. You will not enjoy it." she said calmly.
