Chapter 42 - Divine artifact

'Is the loss of the magical catalyst potential really that severe?' I pondered with a frown as I looked at the weapon.

It was hard to understand as even the description said that this weapon had all the same material properties and as a result should have been a match for the Sword of Gryffindor or at least close in value. Yet the lack of that one feature had it's value being a fraction of Gryffindor's blade. I decided to look into this a bit further as if nothing else this would help me in understanding how treasures were valued by the system.-

"It looks like a fine blade so why do you say it is inferior to Gryffindor's?" I asked curiously.

"Gryffindor's blade not only had the ability to use the wielders magic much like a wand but it also took the goblin silvers ability to imbue itself with materials that strengthen it to a new level. The blade could absorb the users skill with a blade as well as other traits and pass them to another wielder temporarily. To say it simply the weapon could in theory allow the one using it to not only match Gryffindor's own skill with a blade but even exceed it exponentially for however many previous wielders the blade had. Mine can not do that." He said with a reluctant sigh.

"By comparison yours is just a normal goblin silver made weapon then, a fine one but no more than that." I said with understanding and he nodded.

"Quite so unfortunately." he agreed.

"And what about the rest of this stuff?" I asked curiously.

"Ah that. Trophies from my travels as I said. Hide from a Nemean lioness, Hydra blood and venom, Hebridean black horns and scales, leviathan liver oil, Kraken ink. My most interesting trophy however is that spear over in the case there. Highly powerful and unnaturally sharp but beyond that I could never figure out what it did." he said introducing his trophies proudly.

I walked over to the long dust caked case and popped the latch to open it. Inside was a spear with a long smooth white wooden shaft and golden spearhead at the end. It was certainly beautiful but otherwise didn't look all that special, until I scanned it with my haki. I stiffened immediately as my perception caught the hurricane of magical energy quietly curled in this thing.-

Calling it boundless would be inaccurate but not by much. This weapon had more magical energy within it than I have ever felt from anything else before, even Dumbledore himself. I couldn't help but appraise it out of curiosity but nothing could have prepared me for what I discovered.-

{Item name: Zeus's thunderbolt

Class: Treasure

Value: 50,000,000 system coins

Condition: Perfect(indestructible)

Description: The spear of the wizard king Zeus himself. Said to have been forged of lightning itself this weapon served as both the source of Zeus's mastery of the sky and his symbol of power. It's haft is made of wood hewn from a great white oak struck by lightning seven times without perishing. It's head of the lost magical metal celestial gold. Carved into every inch of this weapon are runes of containment, control, growth and sky at such microscopic levels there are millions of them. This weapon houses the magical power that Zeus stored within it everyday since it's creation and serves as a powerful magical catalyst for lightning and atmospheric spells. Sealed away until a worthy wielder is found to inherit it's previous owners power.}

If the sheath of Gryffindor's sword had my jaw on the floor this thing caused my mind to short circuit for a moment. That description was frankly insane. Let's put aside the fact this thing belonged to ZEUS of all people for a moment and cover the weapon itself instead. White oak struck by lightning seven bloody times without dying is already unreasonably rare, statistically very unlikely at BEST. That lost celestial gold metal was a whole other kind of BS. There was literally no telling what that was capable of since it was a lost metal and probably didn't even have very many records surviving of it to this day.-

Then there were the MILLIONS of runes carved at a microscopic level all over the bloody thing. I had no clue how that was even possible at this point, not a single damn clue in fact. The uses for the weapon were also frankly insane as well. Not only was it a melee weapon but it also doubled as a wand more or less. One that was especially good at lightning spells or literally changing the weather. At the top of this massive pile of BS though was the fact the damned thing held the massive stored magic of Zeus himself waiting to be accessed by a worthy wielder, whatever the hell that meant.-

Once my brain rebooted I eagerly reached out and plucked the spear from the case. It was surprisingly light all things considered, like holding a book almost but more spread out. The thing was longer than I was tall, probably about two meters in length I'd guess. Holding it with both hands the thing gave off no strange feeling so I likely didn't possess whatever quality the thing looked for to determine if one was worthy or not.-

That said I had something that Zeus definitely hadn't counted on when he set up that seal, conquerors haki. Focusing my will as tightly as I could on the spear between my hands I fully unleashed my haki on it and felt an immediate reaction. For all of a split second I felt like I was holding the entire sky in my control, until I was blasted backwards.-

PAIN, agony really filled my body as I awoke.

"Hmmm!" I whimpered as I tried to open my eyes only to discover half my vision gone, not blurry or distorted, gone.

I was in an unfamiliar place with white curtains surrounding my bed and air that smelled of herbs and sterilizer. I went to sit up only to almost scream as pain wracked my body, especially my hands that I tried to use to sit up. Gritting my teeth I moved my arms from my side into the air in front of my face to look at them. Thick bandages were wrapped around both of them like mummification all the way up to my elbows. Moving any of my fingers sent a burning pain through me like fire having taken residence under my skin there.-

Sighing and relaxing to let my arms rest at my sides again I turned my head to look around and to my surprise right next to my bed leaning against the nightstand is the spear. I admit my first thought was an almost overwhelming desire to sell the damned thing to my system for causing me so much pain but my rational mind immediately picked up on something wrong with the situation. If I was in the hospital wing then why was the thing that put me here left right next to me?
