Chapter 29 - Kamar Taj

Observer POV

Floating around the grounds of Kamar Taj, while looking around, was Tenno. Kamar Taj was a lot different here than he was used to, it could even be described as minimalist, probably because they used enlargement spells to fit an empire's worth of sorcerers inside the last one.

As he went through a hallway near the library, Wong suddenly came into view around a corner. "Halt," he suddenly commanded as he went into a battle stance. "Who are you and what are you doing here?"

Tenno just ignored him and flew through him, leaving him completely flabbergasted. "I'm a Master of the Mystic arts, why do you ask?" he retorted as Wong turned around and analyzed him.

"I don't believe you," he stated as he conjured a pair of Eldridge constructs around his hands.

Tenno sighed and went through the floor, leaving Wong behind in the corridor. „Why don't you ask the Ancient One for confirmation yourself if it's so important to you that I have a hall pass?" he stated while his head vanished beneath the floorboards.

As he descended further downwards, Kaecilius suddenly passed by. He also analyzed Tenno, as he didn't recognize him either, but since he wasn't the librarian who knew every sorcerer around, he just grunted and walked past him.

He slandered further through the building, till he found himself in the courtyard. There, fighting his own shadow, was Karl Mordo.

"A new face I see, have you already had your first sparring lesson? I could use a partner at the Moment?" he asked as he pointed his staff at Tenno.

"I remember it being bigger," Tenno stated instead of answering the question, as he began to wander and look around the courtyard.

"The world, yes, once you learn of its wonders, it will begin to seem small. But be assured, out there is enough to keep you wondering your entire life," he stated. Tenno smirking, since he was already thousands of years old and really had to agree with that statement.

Mordo finally looked at Tenno for real for the first time and realized who stood before him. "You claim to be a Master, even though I have trained with nearly every sorcerer alive, but I don't know you. Can you prove that statement in a real duel?" He questioned, while Tenno just ignored his challenge as he walked past him.

As Tenno finally faced him with his back, Mordo quickly turned around and struck him, but to his surprise, he passed through Tenno and nearly lost his balance because of it.

"Are you the Ghost of a deceased Master?" He then questioned, while Tenno looked at him in slight annoyance and then left his sight without answering.

After some time, Tenno found himself in the library, where he walked around with Rhino, much to the confusion of everyone else around, taking out one book after the other that he didn't know from the Nova Academy and took them over to an empty table. He began flipping through the pages at an incredible speed while simultaneously keeping copies in Rhino's visual files.

He had already gone through three books when two people sat down opposite him. It was Wong and Mordo.

"Might I ask who you are?" Wong questioned as Rhino closed the book, stood up, and went to fetch another one.

As he returned, he nodded and opened the next book before speaking,

"I'm Tenno, nice to meet you."

Rhino settled down before the open book and set his arms on the table, as his head slumped down. The next second, Tenno appeared next to him, smiling at the two Masters.

"What are you doing here?" Wong asked, not even bothered by the fact that the person just appeared before him, opposite Mordo, who flinched slightly at his sudden move.

"How did you…" Mordo began, but Tenno answered Wong's question while interrupting him, "I'm researching a place called the Void, ever heard of it?" He asked as he vanished again, and Rhino began to flip the pages again.

"Never heard of it, are you a Ghost?" Wong responded while watching him with interest as he swiped through page after page, seemingly an incredibly fast reader.

"A mental construct," Tenno corrected without elaboration further.

"Would you be so kind as to explain your situation to us, so that we can prevent any further misconceptions?" Wong continued, while Mordo nearly lost his cool, confronted with the blatant disrespect he was facing at the moment.

"I have an agreement with the Ancient One. She made me part of Kamar Taj, and in return, she would help me with something," he stated, which confused the two masters.

"You make it sound like you becoming part of our sorcerer circle was something she paid for with a favor, isn't that a bit too much?" Mordo finally asked, nearly fuming with rage.

"Well, with me being here, she probably has something in mind for me to do. As I was told, she always has plans that reach beyond levels we couldn't even begin to fathom, so in my being here, I'm already playing with her cards." Tenno responded through Rhino as Mordor stood up abruptly and stormed out of the room.

"Please excuse my colleague, he has quite the temper," Wong said, apologizing in Mordor's stead while also standing up.

"Whenever you need help, please don't wait to ask for it," he said, wanting to walk away, but Tenno spoke up first.

"Then I already have a question if you don't mind. As you are the librarian, you would probably know about foreign dimensions.

If you were to search for a Dimension not recorded in the books you know, within the old archives, where would you start to search for it?"

Wong stopped in his tracks and turned around while looking conflicted at Tenno.

"I've read pretty much every book in the archives. There are probably around 20 books left that would maybe have what you are looking for, but they are ancient and probably not up to date," he said as he motioned for him to follow him.

After some time, between all the bookshelves, they came to a large stone wall with an engraving that looked like a door. Wong touched it, and it began to open inwards, leading to some stony steps, which they took down into the dark.

It looked more like something deserving the name catacombs, which they now walked among, as the old, ancient-looking architecture was nothing like anything around. Wong went among the bookshelves and took out one book after another, stashing them on a tray while summarizing each one's back cover.

After a while, he pulled out a book and read,

"Lifeless Dimensions. A dictionary about the first contact with every dangerous dimension without any sentient beings inside and no documented usefulness."

"Sounds good to me," Tenno said as he took the book from Wong and began flipping through it. After looking over the summary, he found a promising chapter and skimmed the text, with Rhino's translation software helping him immensely.

He found a mention of a dimension with nothing in it, not even stars in the distance, where Magic didn't seem to work at all.

The only possible use of the dimension the author could think of would be as a prison. Still, he found it too cruel and too energy-intensive, since the ritual used to open the portal involved sacrificing souls to a deity of choice. It was the only way he could find to get enough energy to hold open that rift in space. He also never could get it big enough for anything other than a hand to fit through.

But the portal seemed stable, which was enough for Tenno. He did not know how to get the portal bigger to fit himself or the orbiter through it, but that would be a problem for later.

Tenno smiled and turned to Wong as Rhino placed the book on the tray.

"Thank you, I think I've got it, but the other books, I will also take a look into, thanks," he said, Wong nodding while they began to make their way back from the archives.

As they were just out the door, Tenno turned around to Wong, who was closing the door. "By the way, do you have a way to find hexes?" he said as the door closed with a loud rumble.

"Of course we do," Wong answered, "But pretty much every Witch uses some hex construct to avoid such detection. It probably won't work if you want to find an experienced Witch for your cause."

"Doesn't matter, as long as I can have a look at it, I will be out of your hair in about a second," Tenno replied, which made Wong sigh, gesturing him to follow, as they went to his office in the library.

(AN: OMG, finally I can write the next Movie. It took so fucking long to finally get here, but I think this way would be the most natural for him, and my perfectionism didn't let me do it before. It was always like, "No, that wouldn't be realistic, he has some other priorities at the moment", but now I let myself have some fun. So stay tuned for the next chapter and, with it, the next Movie of the MCU. Bye.)
