Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 – The Mother and the Scholar

The Whisper in the Mangroves

The celebrations of the previous night still lingered in the air — the faint smell of roasted meat, the laughter of warriors recalling drunken boasts, the lazy morning hum of Amazon Lily returning to its routine.

But Vegito was already awake, standing at the edge of the lagoon with his eyes half-lidded, sensing something only he could feel.

Robin found him there, arms folded loosely. "You've been standing here for a while."

"Your mother," Vegito said without preamble.

Robin blinked. "…What?"

"She's here," Vegito said, turning toward the deep jungle. "Well… not here here. But her spirit's close. I can bring her back."

Robin's breath caught. "That's… not funny."

"I'm not joking." His tone was steady, almost solemn. "If you want this, I'll do it. If you don't… I'll never mention it again."

The Decision

For a long time, Robin said nothing. Her eyes searched his face, as if looking for a crack in the impossible. Finally, she whispered, "She died twenty years ago… I was eight."

"I know," Vegito said softly. "The world took enough from you, Robin. It doesn't get to keep this."

Her voice trembled. "If you can… then yes. Please."

The Revival Site

They trekked deep into the heart of Amazon Lily, where the air grew heavy with the scent of blooming orchids. In a clearing surrounded by towering roots, Vegito began tracing runes in the earth, each line glowing with golden light.

The crew followed in quiet reverence — even Shalria kept her comments to herself. Bell-mère took Nami's hand without a word.

When the circle was complete, Vegito's ki flared bright enough to paint the trees in gold.

The Return of Nico Olvia

The air shimmered. A silhouette formed in the center of the circle — tall, graceful, with the familiar dark hair pulled back. Slowly, the light faded, revealing Nico Olvia, alive, breathing, and looking around in confusion.

"Where… am I?" she murmured, her voice rich and warm.

Robin's legs nearly gave out. "Mother…"

Olvia's eyes snapped to her, widening in shock. "Robin? You're… grown…"

Robin ran forward, and the two collided in a fierce embrace. The scholar's hands trembled as they held her daughter's face. "You survived… my precious girl…"

The Crew's Quiet Witness

The crew stood back, letting the moment belong to them. Perona dabbed her eyes with her sleeve. Mikita and Nojiko exchanged soft smiles.

Even Hancock — who had only just begun to open up to Vegito — found herself staring at him with something like awe.

Shalria muttered under her breath, "Okay… that's actually impressive."

Words Between Mother and Daughter

They sat together under the shade of the mangrove roots for what felt like hours. Robin spoke of her years on the run, her time with the Straw Hats, and the crew she now called family.

Olvia listened without interrupting, her hand never leaving Robin's.

When Robin hesitated at describing the destruction of Ohara, Olvia simply squeezed her hand. "I'm here now. And I will see the truth with you."

Aftermath

Back at the palace, the Amazons prepared a second feast — this time not for the crew, but in honor of Robin's reunion.

Olvia, though still adjusting, had already begun speaking with Hancock about the island's ancient history. Robin joined in, her voice steady but glowing with a warmth the crew had never seen from her before.

Vegito's Private Conversation

Later, as the night deepened, Olvia approached Vegito where he leaned against the palace balcony.

"You gave me back my life," she said. "But more than that… you gave me back my daughter."

Vegito shrugged, though his smile was genuine. "Seemed like the right thing to do."

Olvia studied him. "Robin trusts you. That's rare. Don't waste it."

He met her gaze evenly. "I don't waste the people I care about."

[Crew Roster Updated]

Nico Olvia (Scholar / Historian) — newly revived, traveling with the crew at Robin's request.

Next Destination: The crew departs Amazon Lily — but before leaving the Calm Belt, Vegito makes an unannounced stop to deal with Vander Decken's threat to Shirahoshi before they even reach Fishman Island.
