Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 – Celestial Chaos and the Accidental Fiancée

Sabaody Archipelago – The Playground of the Cruel

The Sabaody Archipelago gleamed under the midday sun — a paradise of bubbles and gold for the rich, and a living hell for the enslaved. The roots of the mangrove trees towered like mountains, their glossy surfaces lined with luxury shops, slave auction houses, and Marine patrols.

The moment Heaven's Embrace emerged from the coating station, the crew could feel it — the air was thick with the stink of wealth, arrogance, and fear.

Bell-mère's jaw tightened. "This place makes my skin crawl."

Nojiko glanced at her. "We're really doing it?"

Vegito grinned. "We're doing it."

Step One – Find the Slave Auction

It didn't take long. The "Human Auction House" was a gaudy monstrosity of polished wood, gold trim, and red velvet. Inside, laughter and clinking glasses filled the air, drowning out the muffled cries of the people in cages.

Vegito stepped through the front door as if he owned the place. His tail swayed lazily, eyes sweeping the room until they landed on the stage.

A massive cage held fish-men, longarm tribe members, even a few minks — all chained and beaten. The auctioneer's voice dripped smugness as he rattled off starting prices.

Nami's knuckles went white on her Clima-Tact. "I hate this."

Step Two – Light the Fuse

The auctioneer didn't notice Vegito until he was standing on stage beside him.

"Good crowd," Vegito said, smiling at the audience. "Shame you're all trash."

The room went still.

Then Vegito ripped the microphone from the auctioneer's hands and crushed it in his palm. "Here's the new rules," he said, his voice carrying without aid. "Every slave here? Free. Every Celestial Dragon in the room? Pray I don't see you blink wrong."

The First Dragon Falls

A shrill, nasal laugh echoed from the back. A pudgy man in a white bubble suit and gold-trimmed cape waddled forward — one of the Celestial Dragons.

"You dare speak to me, commoner?!" he screeched. "I am Saint—"

He didn't get to finish. Vegito was in front of him in a blur, flicked him on the forehead, and sent him flying through three walls and into the harbor.

Gasps and screams filled the hall.

Step Three – Burn It Down

The crew moved like a storm. Kuina and Zala cut chains, Reiju and Kaya tended to the freed slaves, Robin sprouted limbs to disarm guards, and Mikita floated minks out of their cages with the Slow-Slow effect.

Vegito blasted the building's roof off with a casual ki wave, sunlight streaming in like judgment itself.

Enter Saint Shalria

The chaos was still unfolding when she appeared — Saint Shalria, tall, blonde, wearing the same inflated bubble suit as the other Dragons but with an air of haughty disdain that could curdle milk.

Her voice was sharp enough to cut glass. "What is the meaning of this?! Do you have any idea who I—"

Vegito's gaze swept her up and down once, his smirk infuriatingly relaxed. "Yeah. Entitled, spoiled, and somehow still less threatening than a damp sponge."

Her mouth opened in outrage, but before she could speak again, Vegito had stepped in close, leaned down, and whispered, "Congratulations. You're coming with me."

Rom-Com Disaster

"What?! You can't just—" she sputtered, shoving at his chest. "I am a Celestial Dragon! I am—"

"Now you're my crew's… hm, let's call it guest of honor," Vegito said, lifting her off the ground like she weighed nothing.

Her cheeks flamed. "Y-you can't just carry me around like a— put me down!"

"Nope," Vegito said, slinging her over his shoulder. "You'll just run off and get yourself shot. Plus, you're kinda cute when you're angry."

The crew's reactions varied:

Bell-mère facepalmed.

Nami and Nojiko exchanged looks that screamed here we go again.

Perona snorted into her hand.

Mikita muttered, "Another one? Really?"

The Escape That Wasn't

By the time the Marines swarmed the auction house, half the slaves were already gone — teleported to safety by Vegito's dimensional ability. The rest of the crew was casually strolling down the street like they hadn't just committed a war crime.

Shalria wriggled over Vegito's shoulder, huffing. "You'll regret this! My father will—"

"Yeah, yeah," Vegito said. "He can send me an angry letter. I'll hang it on the fridge."

Step Four – Make a Statement

They reached the Marine garrison on Sabaody. Without a word, Vegito launched into the air, ki swirling around him. In moments, a massive golden beam erupted from his palms, carving through the building like paper and igniting a shockwave that rolled across the entire grove.

The Marines scattered. The few Celestial Dragons still on the island screamed and dove for cover.

When Vegito landed, his voice rang out over the chaos. "If you keep slaves, you're next."

Back on Heaven's Embrace

Shalria was sitting cross-legged on the deck, her bubble helmet discarded, glaring daggers at Vegito.

"You are insufferable," she said.

"Thank you," Vegito replied cheerfully, handing her a cup of tea.

"…I didn't say it was a compliment."

"I didn't say I took it as one," he said with a grin.

The crew had gathered to watch the exchange, some openly laughing. Bell-mère leaned toward Nami. "Wanna place bets on how long before she's flirting back?"

Nami smirked. "Three days."

Shalria's cheeks burned hotter. "I heard that!"
