Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Spreading Rumors

I didn't want to argue with them anymore and silently moved my things to one side.

The class monitor took a photo of the watch that everyone had pooled money to buy for her and posted it on the social platform.

She always liked to build an image of a rich and beautiful girl online. This time, however, someone exposed that the watch was a fake.

[We each contributed £20,000. How could it be a fake?]

[We did contribute the money, but Sophia bought the watch.]

[She couldn't have embezzled our money and bought a fake watch for the class monitor, could she?]

Sophia quickly denied it:

"I really bought a genuine one. And I have such a good relationship with the class monitor. How could I buy a fake one for her?"

"It must be Emily! She holds a grudge against the class monitor, doesn't want to contribute money, and even swapped the watch I bought!"

As soon as she finished speaking, the classmates nodded one after another.

"She kept playing the victim in front of us those days. It must be her. Besides her, who else would covet this watch?"

I coldly replied: "It wasn't me."

"Then who was it? You're the only one in the class who didn't go to see the class monitor and didn't even want to contribute money. You're the only one who would covet this watch."

Sophia seemed to have caught me in the act and punched my desk. "Just because I asked you to contribute some money last time, you deliberately retaliated against me and wanted everyone to laugh at me!"

"Emily, how could you embezzle everyone's money for your own selfish interests!"

The class immediately boiled over:

"Emily, it was you, right! Pay the money back quickly or buy another watch for the class monitor!"

"Don't push her too hard. She was acting in the class the other day. Don't let her act at the school gate tomorrow as if we're bullying her."

"A thief is a thief. Whether she plays the victim or not, pay the money back!"

I sneered and curled my lips:

"Since you say I stole the watch, call the police and see if I swapped it."

As soon as I was about to go out, a force behind me pulled me back. I was turned around and pressed against the wall.

"You stole something and you still want to run away?"

Sophia kicked me in the waist. I wrinkled my whole face in pain.

"Apologize to us and the class monitor!"

Another classmate suggested: "Just make her post a message online admitting that she stole the watch and swapped it. We and the class monitor were unaware. Isn't that okay?"

As he said this, Sophia's lackey held me down, took out my phone from my pocket, and posted a statement online.

[I'm a classmate of blogger BDHS. She didn't use a fake. This watch was bought by our class through pooling money. I was just blinded by money and out of my mind for a moment. I stole the watch and swapped it. The other classmates didn't give a fake either. They were unaware. It's all my fault.]

A photo of me kneeling on the ground was attached. My face was bruised and swollen, and my eyes were dull.

The classmates in the class also started to comment:

[It was her who stole it. Our class went to see the class monitor together. Only she didn't go, and she didn't even want to contribute money!]

[She always keeps to herself usually and does that kind of 'going back to the rural hometown' thing with her mother! We even have pictures and videos!]
