Chapter 28 - Chapter 26: The Escape

Flight Through the Shadows

The alarm blared through the cavernous corridors of the Reverie's underbelly, echoing off cold stone walls. Red emergency lights bathed the tunnels in an ominous glow as reinforcements mobilized to intercept the infiltrators.

Swift and Silent

Kuina led the team with practiced precision, her steps light but sure as she guided them through twisting passages and hidden alcoves.

"Tight formation!" she commanded, voice barely above a whisper. "Stay close and move fast."

Tashigi guarded their rear, her sword ready to deflect any attack from behind.

Sabotage and Delay

Robin and Lyra worked swiftly to disable security doors and trap systems ahead, buying precious seconds as the team pushed deeper.

Robin's eyes glinted with concentration. "The closer we get to the surface, the more dangerous it becomes. Expect heavy resistance."

Nami's Lifeline

Meanwhile, aboard the Hyperion, Nami manipulated the ship's controls with expert precision.

"Extract point locked," she reported. "Stealth mode active. I'll cover your retreat with weather manipulation — thick fog and a sudden storm to hide us from pursuers."

A Clash in the Depths

The team encountered a squad of elite Cipher Pol agents blocking their path. Blades flashed in the dim light as Kuina and Tashigi engaged in fierce combat, their movements synchronized and deadly.

Kuina's voice rang out, sharp and determined: "We cannot fail!"

Elara's Resolve

Dr. Elara, clutching the stolen data chip containing the weapon's blueprints, kept close to Vegito.

"I'm with you till the end," she said, eyes fierce despite the pounding fear.

Breaking Through

After a brutal skirmish, the team burst through a hidden exit, emerging into a shadowed garden overlooking the palace grounds.

Nami's signal pulsed through their comms: "Get to the extraction point! I'm ready."

Flight

With the enemy closing in, the crew sprinted through the garden's twisting paths, the scent of blooming flowers mixing with the tension in the air.

As they reached the edge of the cliff, the Hyperion hovered silently below, its stealth bubble shimmering faintly.

Victory and Resolve

Vegito was the last to board, his gaze steely as he faced the fading red glow of the Reverie behind them.

"We stopped Oblivion—for now," he said.

"But this war is far from over."
