Chapter 58 - Cassie's POV.

I could feel his breath on me as he whispered those words into my ears, and even though I wanted to say something so badly, I was completely blank at the moment as I kept staring at nothing, my eyes clouded with hot tears as I waited for whatever he was going to do to me next.

"Cassandra, say something," he whispered to me again, and just then I forced myself and turned my gaze slowly to look at his face, and it was that moment that I noticed it wasn't about anger; it was about something different. He wasn't looking angry.

It was unlike him to persist for an explanation from me, especially when it all looked like I was the one at fault.

"I'm sorry, Donald; I just wanted somewhere to breathe a different kind of air. I felt trapped in that house. I felt like you and Taylor were always watching me. I just want to be with someone familiar, someone I could see as family," I said to him in a very low voice but clear enough for him to hear.
