Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: A World That Shouldn’t Be

System Log – Fragmented]

Law Overwrite: Successful

Residual Code Conflict: Ongoing

Warning: The Graveyard has become a living variable.

The sky didn't fall.

It bled.

Streams of silver data leaked from broken cloud-layers, fractal lightning carving runes into the air. Somewhere deep below the Graveyard, I could feel the world breathing wrong—like it had been punched in the ribs but didn't know how to scream.

This isn't the same Game anymore.

I stood at the edge of a ravine that hadn't existed yesterday. It carved straight through Sector 7, cleaving reality like an ax through glass. Beneath it: code. Threaded, bleeding, pulsing like veins.

Trinity stood next to me, quiet.

Her flame flickered blue now—not orange.

"You feel that?" she asked.

I nodded. "It's learning."

A scream echoed in the distance.

Not fear. Pain.

Trinity spun toward it, already summoning flame. I reached out with my threads, scanning the anomaly.

[Entity Detected – Class: Deathless Variant]

Name: Arlo Mein – Formerly Erased

Status: Restored via Law Breach

Condition: Unstable Resurrection Loop (x3)

We found him half-submerged in the earth.

He wasn't whole—fragments of soul-thread lashed out from his chest, twitching like broken wings. His eyes were wild.

"I didn't want to come back!" he howled. "You were supposed to leave me gone!"

"I didn't choose you," I said carefully. "The system did."

"No," he snapped. "You wrote the rule. You made it real."

He lunged—then collapsed, convulsing.

Trinity stepped in. "Should I burn the thread?"

I didn't answer.

Because deep down, I knew what Arlo was feeling.

I'd set them free—but not all of them wanted it.

Later, Orion found us at the old Reaper obelisk. It had shattered during the Sable conflict, but its remains still buzzed with energy.

They tossed me a half-functional terminal screen.

"You need to see this," Orion said. "It started this morning."

The display flickered to life.

A new broadcast. One I hadn't authorized.

"The Graveyard is broken."

"Death is dead. And the one who killed it walks among us."

"His name is Trey Laurent."

"We call him the Lucid Flame. The System Reborn. The Deathless Prophet."

"And we will follow him… or we will fall trying to defy him."

Below the message:

A symbol.

My Mark, etched into stone and flame.

Trinity swore. "You've been deified."

Orion crossed their arms. "They're building a cult around you."

I looked at the screen and whispered:

"This is a world that shouldn't be…"

But it's the one I created.
