Mabui stepped forward with concern. "What's the matter?"
"I must've been going too fast on the scooter; sand got into my eyes."
"I told you not to drive so recklessly. Now move your hands aside, let me blow on them for you."
Mabui leaned closer.
Anya grinned triumphantly. As Mabui puckered her lips and moved in—
a flash of red lips met hers first, delicately brushing like a dragonfly skimming water—lingering in a soft kiss that spread warmth across her mouth. The world seemed to fall silent, as if time itself had paused to witness this tender moment.
Stunned, Mabui froze, heart pounding, completely dazed by what was happening.
When Anya's kiss deepened into passionate swirling motions, preparing for more exploration, Mabui finally snapped back to reality. Her face flushed red, she shoved Anya away and quickly mounted her scooter, speeding off without looking back.
But Anya wasn't done yet. In one swift movement, she reappeared behind Mabui once again.
"Get off my scooter," Mabui said, startled like a frightened rabbit, her voice trembling with panic.
Amused, Anya replied smoothly, "Just answer one question, and I'll leave right away."
"Okay, just ask quickly!" Mabui felt her heartbeat hammering in her chest.
"In the future, are you planning to be my secretary forever? Have you ever considered doing something else?"
Without hesitation, Mabui shot back, "Something else? Never thought about it."
A faint chuckle escaped Anya's lips. "Then why did you run away? If you're going to be my secretary forever, then your heart is already mine. So why run away?"
The words struck a chord. Mabui could no longer deny the truth. She realized at last why she'd been upset—the speed of the scooter slowed gradually.
Anya tilted up her chin, leaned in close, and whispered with an enchanting smile, "Earlier, I hadn't kissed you enough yet."
Mabui's eyes glistened. She simply closed her eyes, gently murmuring, "You always take advantage of me."
Just as Mabui waited for another kiss, none came.
Opening her eyes, she noticed Anya frowning deeply, expression suddenly serious.
"What's wrong?"
After some thought, Anya muttered, "I can sense someone watching us using my [Spirit Transformation Technique]."
With that, she activated [Spirit Transformation Technique], her soul energy enveloping her body, finally detecting those unseen eyes—a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan silently observing her from afar.
"Miss Mikoto, are you looking for me?"
"Great! Kurenai was right—you really can feel my eyes."
Relieved and delighted, Mikoto spoke joyfully.
Anya immediately understood much of the situation and quickly asked, "Did something happen?"
"Yes, it's Sasuke. He's severely wounded—he nearly died. He didn't even have the strength left to bite Xiulin. Fortunately, Jugo is treating him, keeping him barely alive. Hurry back."
"What?! Got it. I'm on my way. Don't worry, Miss Mikoto—I'll save him."
Anya finished comforting Mikoto and withdrew her Spirit Transformation Technique. Facing Mabui, she said, "Send me back to the clan. I don't know why, but Sasuke is seriously injured. I need to return to save him."
Mabui immediately understood the urgency and without hesitation activated the Heavenly Transfer Technique.
A flash of white light passed, and in the next moment, Anya's figure appeared at home.
Mikoto, as if seeing a savior, quickly pulled Anya into the room. Almost all members of the clan were gathered here.
Sasuke was unconscious, blood flowing from his eyes. The most critical wound was on his chest, just a hair's breadth away from piercing his heart. Without Jugo's Sage's Physical Power treating him through his own cells, he truly wouldn't have survived until her return.
Anya lit up [Shikkotsu Forest Sage Art] in her hands and stepped forward. "Jugo, step aside. Let me handle it."
"Yes."
Jugo, having witnessed Anya's power before, ceased treating Sasuke, his body visibly shrunk after withdrawing from Sage Art.
Placing her hands on Sasuke's chest, she poured in powerful life force. Soon, Sasuke's heart regained its vitality. Everyone in the room could clearly hear the strong beat of his heart and collectively exhaled in relief.
Anya asked in confusion, "How did Sasuke get injured? Did someone break through the barrier I set up and intrude into the clan?"
"No," Mikoto sighed softly. "After I counseled him, this child no longer holds the same resentment toward Konoha—the Hidden Leaf Village—as he once did. He told me he wants to inherit his older brother's will, participate in the Fourth Great Ninja War [also known as the Great Shinobi War], become Hokage, and then lead a revolution to destroy the current shinobi system and build an entirely new world for ninja."
"He has swung from one extreme to another—it's quite similar to how I was in my youth."
"And then? Did you let him go?"
"Yes. However, I was worried he would encounter danger, so I secretly followed him using my Celestial Eye. I never expected that shortly after Sasuke left, he was attacked by a hooded assailant."
Xiulin added, "That person's chakra felt very strange—an unfamiliar energy I've never sensed before, yet oddly somewhat familiar."
Anya's brow twitched faintly with concern. Who could this person be? With Sasuke's current strength, even activating Susano'o led to a devastating defeat. This meant the opponent was at least at the Kage-level peak or possessed abilities especially effective against Sasuke. She swept the area once more, but not a single trace could be found.
At this moment, Mikoto spoke up. "By the way, Hakuto was nearby at that time. She chased after that hooded man. My Celestial Eye has been following Hakuto, and they are in hot pursuit."
"Aww, that girl."
Anya wasn't worried, though. Hakuto had already mastered [Moon in the Well Sealing Technique] and could activate Rinnegan at any time—it would be enough to ensure her survival.
A few more minutes passed as Anya continued the treatment. "Sasuke's external wounds have mostly healed. The real problem is his Mangekyo Sharingan, which has been overused and is close to blindness."
Mikoto's face darkened with worry. "You said there was a solution."
"There is," Anya confirmed. "You all go out. In one day, I'll return to you a fully recovered Sasuke."
Overjoyed, Mikoto didn't waste time saying more, leaving the room together with everyone else.
Unlike his earlier personal grievances, Sasuke's perspective had clearly broadened after some persuasion. It was actually possible to give him the [Eternity Mangekyō]. However, the newly arrived figure in black caught Anya's attention. Something felt vaguely off. For now, fully healing Sasuke and trying to get some answers from him remained the priority.
[Mangekyō] appeared in Fugaku's hand. A new round of eye-transplant surgery began. This time, Anya, having already gained experience, swiftly completed the operation.
Bandages covering his eyes, Sasuke regained consciousness during the procedure.
Anya cut right to the chase. "Do you know who injured you?"
Sasuke remained silent for a moment before replying, "That question should be mine to ask you."
Anya was taken aback...
