Compared to the time of the Konoha Defense War, the Uchiha district had become much livelier. Some Uchiha clan members had already returned, and the streets were now bustling with people. After the Third Hokage announced the end of the Third Great Ninja War, the overall atmosphere became more joyful—laughter and happy chatter could be heard from time to time.
Mikoto was clearly affected by the cheerful mood, a warm smile constantly gracing her face. Since the start of the war, she had lived in constant anxiety, fearing that one day she might suddenly receive a devastating message. Now that the war was finally over, she could finally set aside the heavy stone that had weighed on her heart.
After entering the clan compound, Mikoto enthusiastically showed Anya around, introducing every place and sharing some amusing anecdotes. It was obvious how much she loved this place, and how sincerely she hoped Anya could fit in.
Anya, understanding Mikoto's feelings, gave a polite smile and responded with a few quiet words.
When Mikoto reached her doorstep, Anya said, "Onee-san, since you're home now, I'll be on my way."
Mikoto tried to persuade him to stay. "Won't you come in and see Itachi? He mentioned you often, saying he wanted you to check his sword techniques again."
"Maybe another time."
Realizing the reason, Mikoto nodded. "Oh, right. Your body hasn't fully recovered yet. Be sure to rest well recently."
Feeling her sincere concern, Anya lightly smiled and replied, "Alright, I will."
As soon as Anya entered the compound, he had already used the Division Technique to locate the Naka Shrine. After saying goodbye, his entire form blurred into a faint shadow and vanished.
The Naka Shrine was the ancestral temple of the Uchiha clan. Inside stood a Stone Tablet that had been passed down through generations. Once, a famous river known as the Naka River also flowed here, with the shrine originally located beneath it.
This river had witnessed the first encounter between Hashirama and Madara. It had also seen the intense conflicts between the Uchiha and Senju clans. Only after the two clans made peace did they reshape the surrounding forests, mountains, and rocks, eventually forming the thriving Hidden Leaf Village we know today.
The underground Naka Shrine received a visitor today. The first thing he saw was an old, shabby house. Upon closer look, nearly anyone would mistake it for a long-abandoned structure—no one would imagine that within it lay the Uchiha clan's deepest secret.
Anya stepped inside, knelt down, and ran his hand across the floor. With a series of hand seals, he released the barrier above the shrine. A gap opened in the floor, and a chilling, dark aura rose up. Before him appeared a set of descending stairs.
He descended the stairs into the chamber below, which was eerily empty, save for a single Stone Tablet at its center—clearly his target.
Activating his Sharingan, three comma-shaped marks began to spin within his eyes. Powerful ocular energy surged into his gaze as he focused on deciphering the inscriptions on the Stone Tablet.
Meanwhile, Itachi and Shisui were engaged in their usual sparring session when they saw Mikoto approach. They stopped fighting at once.
Shisui greeted her first. "Good afternoon, Aunt."
Mikoto smiled. "You two can continue training. Don't let me stop you."
Itachi, somewhat curiously, asked, "Mother, you didn't come home all night yesterday. Were you occupied with something important?"
"Yes," she replied. "Your foster father has returned. He was injured and needed someone to care for him."
"The captain was injured?" Shisui asked in surprise, then quickly added, "How serious is his injury?"
"It's okay," Mikoto said with a soft smile. "I just need more rest. Since you care about him so much, why won't you tell me what exactly happened between you two?"
Shisui gave a bitter smile, hesitating before he spoke.
Just then, he slightly furrowed his brows, sensing something. He said evenly, "Mother, since you're back now, I'll leave Itachi in your care. I need to go somewhere for a while."
"Aniki, can I go with you too?" Itachi pleaded with wide eyes.
Mikoto noticed the discomfort on Shisui's face and gently discouraged Itachi. "Now, now. Shisui is a ninja—he needs to go on missions. Once you graduate from the ninja academy, you can go on missions with him."
Itachi declared confidently, "Okay, I'll definitely graduate as soon as possible."
With the power of his Three-Comma Sharingan, Anya began deciphering the first section of the stone tablet's content.
According to the records, this section described the origin of the Ninja World. In the beginning, chakra did not exist in this world. The birth of chakra actually originated from the otsutsuki Clan, who came from another world.
A thousand years ago, there were no ninjas on this land; nations were merely clusters of small villages. One day, a tree descended from the sky and began absorbing the energy of nature itself. Humans who approached it would be drained completely—terrified, they came to worship it as the God Tree.
The guardian of the God Tree was Kaguya otsutsuki, who came to the surface to obtain the fruit of the tree. After eating the fruit, she gained chakra. With her powerful new abilities, she ended the wars of that time. Later, Kaguya received the blessings of humanity and bore two children—Hagoromo and Hamura.
Hagoromo became the Sage of Six Paths, the one who left behind this stone tablet.
Reaching this point, Anya stopped using his Sharingan—his pupils returning to black as the eye power had been exhausted.
His eye power had been drained and needed time to recover.
Anya already knew some of this content. This time, his reading didn't bring much new information. The only certainty was that this section hadn't been tampered with by Black Zetsu—it matched what he already knew.
Therefore, the altered content must be hidden in another section, which requires the Mangekyo Sharingan to interpret—a section that would later be used to lure Madara Uchiha into reviving Kaguya.
Anya sighed. Even without using the Sharingan, he already knew what came next—the Infinite Tsukuyomi, the Moon's Eye Plan.
Should he continue reading?
Judging from the circumstances, there was still a lot recorded on the stone tablet. After recovering his eye power, he could consider deciphering more.
"Who's in there? Come out!" A cold voice called from outside.
Anya's eyes flashed, instantly recognizing the owner of the voice. In an instant, the six blades of The Supreme Blade detached from the main blade and shot outward.
Outside, metal clashing sounds rang out as the attacks were blocked.
"Captain? Is that you?"
Outside stood Shisui, who had rushed over just in time. After using his ninja blade to block the six incoming attacks, he recognized these weapons belonged to Anya. His voice brimmed with shock—then realization dawned.
Turns out the Captain was an Uchiha too. That explained why he understood the Sharingan so well and had such sharp insight. Of course, only someone from the Uchiha Clan would have been chosen by Clan Leader Fugaku to become Itachi's foster father.
Still, even with that said, entering the Uchiha's most restricted area without permission deserved punishment.
Shisui stared at the six blades in front of him, his expression unreadable. "Captain," he said, "you won't even show your face?"
Shisui clearly understood that the earlier attacks had been warnings meant to stop him—not to seriously harm. But if he moved again, he feared the Captain would hold nothing back.
