Chapter 109 - Chapter 109: Someone Else Visits the Prison

Kurenai Yuhi and Red spent some time together then left. After all, this was the Maximum-Security Wing—visiting periods couldn't be too long. There were always experts guarding this area, and only after more than half a year had passed without Anya causing any trouble did the guards finally start to relax slightly, allowing Red the chance to sneak in with his daughter.

After seeing them off, Anya felt a touch of melancholy while eating the food Red had brought him. Ever since their first meeting, Red had treated him very kindly. At first, this kindness might have stemmed from Anya's young appearance, prompting Red to offer a little care out of natural disposition. But later on, that kindness became entirely selfless. As for Kurenai, she didn't need much explanation; that girl probably had developed feelings for him. Sigh, the one who makes the first move ends up at a disadvantage. Now he wasn't sure how to deal with things afterward.

The playboy began reflecting on himself. Children's feelings were always simple, pure, and fragile—that's why so many childhood playmates (qingmei zhumaba in Chinese) never ended up together. If Kurenai maintained her feelings unchanged as she grew older, then Anya would seriously consider the possibility of being together with her.

Eating while sighing, fortunately there was still alcohol—might as well take a few sips.

Just as he swallowed the first sip, the door opened again.

What was going on?

No one had visited him for over half a year, and now people were coming in groups?

Anya quickly swallowed the liquor and lifted his head. Standing at the doorway was yet another unexpected visitor—Mikoto Uchiha.

Before Anya could speak, an extremely spicy and harsh sensation surged through his throat, as if a knife had slashed through it.

Damn, what kind of wine is this? Is this just pure alcohol?

Immediately, Anya started coughing violently. He almost spat out the food he'd already swallowed, hunching over toward the floor as he coughed, his face turning bright red.

Actually, Red had meant well—he specifically bought the strongest alcohol available, hoping it would let Anya get drunk several times in prison, making time pass faster. Obviously, he hadn't anticipated that Anya would drink it straight like water.

Witnessing this scene when she entered, Mikoto Uchiha immediately stepped forward and gently patted Anya's back. A wave of compassion instantly arose in her heart—how long has this child gone without having a decent meal? Judging by his condition, he nearly choked to death.

After a while, Anya finally recovered. Staring at the bottle in his hand, he smiled bitterly. He roughly understood Red's intentions now, but he was really doing just fine.

"Mikoto Sister, how come you're here?" Anya felt surprised by her visit. Under the dim light of the prison, he could see she appeared even gentler than before, radiating a warm maternal glow all around her.

"Oh," Mikoto sighed. "I've known about your teacher's troubles for quite some time." She completely understood Anya's stubborn nature, but hadn't expected him to end up like this—trapped within prison walls.

"At that time, I already knew something was wrong, yet I didn't imagine you'd become so radical. Now once again, you're alone. Should I reveal your identity and try to negotiate your release through our clan?"

Anya fell silent. He clearly knew Mikoto was acting out of concern, yet he couldn't possibly accept such kindness. Accepting it would bind him permanently to the Uchiha clan.

With his current abilities, Anya indeed had a fair chance of changing the fate of the Uchiha Clan in the future, but he had no desire to do so.

Others' destinies had nothing to do with him. He never intended to be a savior. Moreover, most members of the Uchiha Clan were proud, radical, and prone to extremism. If he joined the clan, he might end up wiping it out prematurely.

Mikoto was the only one in the Uchiha Clan who knew his true identity. He was determined to make her give up on the idea of having him join the clan.

Anya quickly came up with an idea and decided to play the pity card: "Mikoto-nee, you know me well. Back then, when I had nothing, I didn't even consider accepting help from the clan. Now that I've become a ninja, although my body is trapped, my heart is free. If the clan bails me out, how do you think the other members will look at me? That would just trade one prison for another."

Upon hearing this, Mikoto couldn't help but nod. She believed she truly understood Anya, having watched him grow up since childhood. At that moment, she didn't know what to do. In fact, she had no idea how deep this younger brother's thoughts really were.

"Then what do you plan to do after you get out?" Mikoto asked with great concern. A ninja released from prison already had a hard time being accepted by others, let alone with the crime of killing fellow village ninjas. It would be even harder for him to reintegrate into the village.

Anya spoke in a low and somber tone: "Mikoto-nee, don't you remember? I was originally a member of Anbu, my identity was kept secret, and I didn't need to have much contact with outsiders. I've long gotten used to this kind of life."

Hearing that, Mikoto felt an even deeper sympathy for him. Finally, she sighed and said, "Alright then, let me clean you up and tidy your room a bit. This place is too dirty and messy."

Another person felt sympathy for Anya just because of his looks, thinking how hard his life must be. Feeling touched, Anya could only continue his act.

Under Mikoto's careful care, the room's environment was completely renewed. The dust on the floor vanished, the unpleasant odor from Anya disappeared, and he looked much more refreshed and lively overall.

Looking at Anya's once again handsome face, Mikoto couldn't help but exclaim, "Before I knew it, you've grown into such a fine young man. So handsome! When you get out, I'll help find you a..."

Anya quickly interrupted, saying, "Thank you, Mikoto-nee. But I really haven't given it any thought right now. After all, not everyone can be as good-looking as you are."

Taken aback for a moment, Mikoto smiled gently: "You're still as flattering as ever, just like when you were little."

At this moment, Mikoto finally found a glimpse of the childlike version of Anya within him.

Quickly seizing the moment, Anya kept sweet-talking her, turning the originally gloomy prison cell into a place filled with laughter.

However, in a corner entirely unnoticed by the two of them, a crimson Sharingan silently observed everything happening before it.

Finally, the figure clenched his fist tightly, turned around, and left swiftly. Striding toward the prison entrance, the person approached the guard and asked, "Who is imprisoned in the Maximum-Security Wing?"

The guard looked at the newcomer and promptly replied respectfully, "Greetings, Clan Head. The person detained there is named Anya. Rumor has it he's a disciple trained by White Fang."

"Anya, huh?" The man was none other than Fugaku Uchiha. After murmuring the name once, he quickly returned to the clan headquarters.

Returning to the clan, Fugaku arrived before a secret chamber. After opening it with a hand seal, he retrieved the clan's genealogy records. Every family bearing a Kekkei Genkai maintains detailed records of each member's birth, death, and key life events to prevent their bloodline from being leaked, exploited, or stolen.

He knew nearly everything about his wife's social circle. He had never noticed a previously unknown individual being so close to her, except for that Anbu officer who once tried to take her away.

And that person in the maximum-security wing—who was he? Why did she seem so at ease around him? And why head straight to a high-security prison right after childbirth? A disciple of the White Fang? Could it be a coincidence that he also wielded a blade?

Fugaku already had a daring theory in his mind.

As he flipped through the genealogy page by page, his gaze suddenly locked onto a name.

Uchiha Anya, age eleven. Succumbed to grief three days after her parents fell on the battlefield. Reported by Mikoto Uchiha.
