The magic on Terra is much different than the worlds that came before it. The other worlds before had magic woven into the very fabric of the air around them, into the roots of every plant and into even the water itself. But on Terra, the magic is bestowed upon almost every person, with few exceptions. Instead of being woven into the world around them, it is woven into the people themselves, giving everyone magical capabilities from birth. There are ten different elemental forms of magic the mortals can innately use without the use of prayers to the gods themselves. Each mortal is born underneath one of these elements and can use magic related to it freely. There have been some cases where there have been mortals who have been born under multiple elements and can use each form of magic they were born under, though they always seem to have one element they are more attuned to. The ten elements are Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Light, Shadow, Electricity, Metal, Gaia, and Blood.
Each element has an appointed Elemental who is chosen by the Creator himself as they are born. Each Elemental reigns over their element and has vastly superior control over it compared to most mortals. Most Elementals come into positions of power, leading their countries or kingdoms, but a few have been vilified and have been rejected by the world. The Creator granted the first of each Elemental the ability to choose a Guardian who will act as their protectors. If an Elemental or Guardian is to die before producing an offspring to take up their mantle, a new one is chosen by the Creator and will be born shortly after. The Elementals not only reign over their element, but also help keep it in balance. Their existence alone is to help keep the flow of magic steady as it streams through the world from person to person, and when one dies and there is no immediate heir, chaos can erupt. This has caused an agreement to be signed by all Elementals to not kill another, though historically it has not always been followed. Especially during the incident only known by many high ranking scholars as "The Purging". The Elementals and Guardians have also been blessed with longer life spans, some will live two to three times the life expectancy of their race. There was one reported case of the Air Elemental to live for 500 years, though by the end of his life he could barely move, let alone walk.
There are occasionally some mortals in the world who are not born under an element.
These mortals struggled to survive alongside the mortals who did have magic, for since the first era, magic has been used in everyday life. Even today, magic is critical in the everyday home. These mortals born without magic had to find a way to survive, and finally they did. In the third era, a mining town called Electra was built by the Electric Elemental. She immediately had them go to work and start digging and what they found changed the world and their town. Underneath Electra an incredibly massive deposit of crystals was found. These crystals had an exceptional property to them, they could absorb magic and store it for later use. Soon Electra went from a mining town into a massive bustling city that produced many of these crystals and turned them into tools that could be used by everyone. With these now those born under no element could heat their homes with a fire crystal, or preserve foods with an ice crystal. These mortals could now forge weapons with these crystals and fight alongside their fellow mortals as equals.
