Chapter 99 - CHAPTER 99 (S4)

It might've not been the smartest decision to let the government know that the group knew the cure, but it was sort of their only hope. The only hope they cared to rely on, at least. The police forces had arrived within an hour like the woman said, and used four vehicles to escort them all back.

And unfortunately of course the first thing they did was interrogate the teenagers. Strictly separately. With Perry went a rather tall, dirty blonde male. He seemed just a little older than the group. Maybe in his early 20's. With Christian, went a woman. Her hair was darker than his natural hair colour, which was pretty dark. She seemed a little older too. Nicole got some cocky and smug jerk, and he was NOT having it. A male, around the same height as him, maybe the same age as him too. Light brown hair, straighter than a ruler. And dark brown eyes.

Rexine got stuck with Maverick together after they revealed their sibling bond— unsure why. Not to mention, Dave and Darren were interrogated together but not with Perry. Weird system. Dave and Darren were fine. They answered everything honestly. As honestly as they could. But it was fine since they actually got along. After 5 excruciating hours of being stuck in the rooms, they were let out. The government had provided them with rooms. All the females had to share two rooms, same going for the males.

And one unlucky officer had been in control of all 16 of them. Though, the organization got taken in for more questioning. Because after the first interrogation, the detectives had realized they knew more than they cared to let on.

The question standing; Where were they? They were at the very edge of Edmonton, where the government had built some facilities for the survivors over the very few months they had.

And when the organization was finally done, they met in the lounge room. There weren't even nearly enough sofas, but it was fine. It was past midnight so Nathan, Emily, Dave, Darren and Ivy were fast asleep in their rooms. Eleven of them sat in the lounge room, a sigh escaping Perry's lips.

"Rough day.." She mumbled.

"I mean not tougher than me. Obviously it was hard for you." Christian commented rather cockily.

"Ha? Excuse me?" Perry seriously couldn't deal with Christian right now. She was both tired and hungry. Thankfully, the people there were providing meals. "Whatever. Keep being annoying. I'm going to bed." She abruptly turned around, not giving a glance back whatsoever. It stunned both Christian and Nicole. She never let down an argument like that. Especially not with Christian. She'd deem it as 'losing' to him, so barely any day went by where she just.. left like that. Not even a glance back.

They decided to leave it be for today, though. Maybe she was just tired after everything. Right?

The very next day, they were woken up quite early. It felt.. almost normal. Maybe it was one step closer to a normal day? Nicole was called into a separate building, where there seemed to be a lab. Since technically everyone had outed about him being the smart one, the only one really able to do anything about experimenting. He was escorted inside, and met by a friendly, bubbly woman. Around his age, too. Maybe a tad bit older. Dirty blonde hair, length that reminded him of Ruby. Eyes a blue that was lighter than Perry's, and a face that matched her personality overall. She smiled warmly.

"Hey!" she smiled. Nicole smiled back a little bashfully. She showed him around, before stopping in front of the counter.

"So I heard you were the only one who knew how to play around and experiment like me." She explained, holding out a test tube. "I'll need help, and you know the cure, right?"

"..Uhm.." Nicole rubbed the back of his neck, nodding. Her bubbly personality, the way she talked so much overwhelmed him. Exactly like when he met Ruby at first. "Yeah. Sure." He replied, blunt but not unkind.

"I'm Marley, by the way!"

".. I'm Nicole."

And so, they got started. They messed around, sure. They also had fun, not entirely focusing on the task at hand. They got along quite well, the girl teaching Nicole some things and in return Nicole told her how the cure was written. After Nicole told the order he tried to make the cure with, it was surprisingly correct, just wrong ratios of each solution.

"Do you think they got taken or something? I haven't seen them ever since." Lorrell asked, leaning back in her chair. Ty shrugged, typing away on the computer.

"I'm not sure, but I saw police cars pass by. And a few, so.. maybe they got found? I heard the government is taking any survivors they see to the facilities." he explained, cigarette in between his lips. He took a hand away to exhale the smoke into the computer screen. Lorrell scoffed.

"And thank god they haven't found us. I'd be rotting in my room if they did."

"Tch. We still have to make sure they don't find the cure. But I doubt it, they already took our most important file." Ty turned around in his swivel chair, taking a drag. "Guess that's the end of our career, huh, El?" Ty added with a soft laugh.

It was then that Vyanna burst into the room. "Guys, since when do zombies run AWAY from humans??" She sighed, slamming the door shut behind her. Vyanna; The red haired girl that they were talking about. She was supposed to be a spy for the organization, but kind of turned into a double agent. She was mainly pressured into staying with The couple. Yeah. The organization had lost contact with her, so they really had no way to talk to her.

Meanwhile back with the group, they had been spending their hours either playing boring games of uno, or doing chores. Yes, chores. Maybe calling them was a mistake after all? It was boring. Perry and Christian started fighting. Every. Single. Day. There was no end. If Nicole had a say, he'd say it was worse than the last semester of high school. Which, mind you, says a lot.

"No, it's your turn to sweep! I did that yesterday." Perry exclaimed, scowling. Great.

"No, nope, nope." Nicole butt in, pushing Perry away from Christian, and standing in between. "Not again, not today."
