There was no bloody drama that night. The four of them enjoyed a hearty meal, then booked four more rooms at the inn.
Gu Han and Bibi Dong's rooms were next to each other, while Yue Guan and Ghost took the rooms to the left and right, neatly sandwiching the two juniors in between.
Gu Han didn't sleep after returning to his room. As usual, he sat cross-legged on the bed, quietly cultivating his spiritual strength.
The Art of Returning Light was fascinating.
When he closed his eyes and looked inward, he could clearly see the faint spiritual light glowing at the center of his brow.
Some called it the Light of Life, others the Light of Spirit or Light of Soul.
But according to the Nameless Law in his mind, this was the Heart of Heaven—an innate divine trick.
If the light moved on its own, it meant death.
If the owner consciously controlled it, however, it became a path to the miraculous.
This light was the soul—the most fundamental essence of a person, the divine within the human body. To command it was to step beyond mortal bounds, to let the spirit wander while remaining aware of the world.
Gu Han suspected this method was linked to Taoist techniques from his previous life.
Many of the abilities the Nameless Law had granted him carried the same flavor as Taoist spells, and this Light Techniquewas almost identical to the Taoist practice of nurturing the Yang Spirit.
What made it even stranger was how the Nameless Law seemed to evolve on its own, adjusting to his growth—like a wordless heavenly book written by the cosmos itself.
Still, he was far from the stage of freely sending his divine consciousness out. That step wasn't to be taken lightly—if one left and couldn't return… well, that would be the end.
By the time the night passed, Gu Han slowly opened his eyes.
There was no brilliance in them—yet anyone who met his gaze would feel as if he could see through all things.
"It's done."
After six years, he had finally completed the first stage—Returning Light.
Now, his spirit was whole, bright, yet perfectly restrained.
He could clearly see the energy flowing in the air—what people in this world called soul power. To him, it was simply the natural energy of heaven and earth. The name soul power was just a label humans had chosen.
Names were convenient, but the Dao itself was nameless.
"It's… incredible."
For the first time, Gu Han felt as though he was touching the very essence of the world.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Brother! Brother! Lazybones, get up already!"
The knock and the sweet, slightly childish voice of Bibi Dong pulled him out of his reverie.
Gu Han got up, answered, and opened the door.
Bibi Dong stood there with her arms crossed, a little queen in her own right. Yue Guan and Ghost loomed behind her like two generals flanking their commander.
"Senior Sister, you're up early today," Gu Han greeted with a smile.
"Early? It's nearly the tenth hour! The sun's about to roast my back!" Bibi Dong huffed, rolling her eyes. "By the way, did you get up late because you were doing something suspicious last night? I thought you'd gone out to practice swordsmanship."
"Exactly," Yue Guan said with a teasing smile, his orchid fingers half-covering his lips. "Your eyes look… different. Did you perhaps indulge in something you shouldn't?"
Gu Han coughed. "Please, Senior Sister, Senior Yue Guan—don't joke. I was just cultivating according to some mental training methods I've read about."
"If you don't believe me, see for yourself."
His eyes lit up for a moment—clear, bright, almost divine.
"Wow!" Bibi Dong's eyes widened. Just now he had looked absent-minded, and then—light seemed to flash within his gaze.
Yue Guan's brows rose in surprise. "You're actually locking your spirit into your eyes? That's… impressive." Even Ghost was watching with interest.
Gu Han smiled faintly. "Everyone knows mental power comes from between the brows—the so-called Sea of Spirit. The eyes are closest to it. When a person's spirit is gone, their eyes turn dull; when the spirit is full, their eyes shine.
"So I thought—if I can 'lock' my eyes, I can prevent mental power from leaking. I combined some existing methods with theories from the library and created my own spiritual cultivation method. I call it the Art of Returning Light."
Yue Guan's smile deepened. "For someone your age to create a mental cultivation method is no small feat. Usually only Title Douluo-level experts manage it. If you ever find one of the legendary immortal herbs… your potential would be limitless."
At the mention of "immortal herb," Bibi Dong tilted her head. "Senior Yue Guan, what's that?"
Yue Guan's expression turned dreamy. He summoned his martial soul, brought it to his nose, and inhaled deeply. "An immortal herb is something that should only exist in the heavens—a treasure beyond comparison. If I could find the Qirong Tongtian Chrysanthemum, I might ascend to an even higher state~~"
Gu Han and Ghost both twitched at his overly graceful movements, while Bibi Dong simply rolled her eyes.
"So… an immortal herb can improve a soul master's aptitude? Like whale gum?"
"Whale gum? Hmph." Yue Guan gave a dismissive snort. "Compared to immortal herbs, whale gum is worthless. Even someone with only rank-one innate soul power could reach Title Douluo level if they obtained and absorbed the right herb."
"That's… a once-in-a-lifetime chance," Bibi Dong murmured.
"Exactly. I'll ask the teacher to help me search when we return. If we find one, your breakthrough to Title Douluo will be only a matter of time."
