Chapter 9 - How to Weaponize Gossip 101

[Time skip before the party]

[Perseus POV]

I am lying on my bed, watching a struggling retarded emo have a breakdown in real time.

Xavier is in full chaos mode, trying every possible hairstyle like his life depends on it. There's enough cologne in the room to fumigate a city block. One more spritz and we're filing for chemical warfare and violate the Geneva Convention.

"Do I look better with it pushed back or forward, Percy?"

He turns to me like it's a life-or-death question.

I blink at him. "You look like a retarded emo either way."

He groans and moves on to attempt #57. I just watch, mildly impressed by the commitment. Then I slide off the bed, grab my jacket, and head for the stairs.

I mean— I get it. In my past life, I had that same itch to be beautiful when I was young. But now? I settle for fitting the vibe. Casual, but not careless. That'll do.

Before I hit the door, I pause.

"If you actually manage to score with Bianca and make out with her," I say over my shoulder, "you can use our room."

Behind me, there's a sound of clattering brushes. Xavier turns around, holding two of them like daggers, as if I've just dropped a death sentence.

"How did you… Wait, what about you?"

[Xavier POV]

"How did you… Wait, what about you?" I ask, still trying to process everything he'd just said.

Please, let me have heard it wrong. Because how the hell would he know? I mean, yeah, I sold him out to Divina so she'd create an opening for me with Bianca. But we did it all under the radar!

And as for why I really don't want him knowing? Well… Perseus is a nice guy, sure. But sometimes the way his mind works makes me genuinely afraid to find out how he'd react.

Like that time we were just chilling in the room, watching some cooking show. He casually wondered out loud:

"Would it be considered cannibalism if I ate werewolf meat? Or the snakes from a gorgon's head? Maybe sushi made from a siren's lower half? Would it even taste good?" Who in the right mind would think about that!

I shook the thought away and focused back on the present.

Perseus is leaning against the doorframe, with a smirk plastered on his face. "Don't worry about me. Worry about the deal you made with Divina."

That stops me cold. I can practically feel my brain trying to figure out how to save my skin! Just deny everything! Deal? Never heard the word before in my life.

"Wait—what deal? What does that even mean?" I called as he walked away. Why did I open my mouth? He was leaving!

He turned slowly, giving me that look that basically screamed Really?

"Playing dumb? Why do you think I told you about my relationship with Wednesday? So Divina could bribe you for information about me to help you with Bianca."

I blinked. "Because we're friends? Why would you think I'd betray our long-standing friendship for some girl?"

He dragged a hand down his face like he was dealing with a hopeless case.

"Because you always drool over her? Or stalk her? Or draw her constantly? Never mind, I'll explain it for your tiny emo brain.

Enid has a crush on me. Before you ask—yeah, I know. It's obvious. About as obvious as Bianca having an interest in you. Which means Divina just scored free intel without even trying.

Divina, as Enid's best friend, will try to get info from you—my roommate. But since I'm already in a relationship with Wednesday, I'll feed you that info on purpose. Divina will pass it to Enid, and if Enid still makes a move, it means she's fine with the situation. Now do you get it?"

It hit me all at once, and I felt like I've just unlocked the secrets of the universe. What kind of voodoo shit is this? My brain hurt just thinking about how I got played without realizing it.

"And… Wednesday's cool with this?"

He raises an eyebrow. "Wednesday? This doesn't break our deal, so it's fine."

Fine? What the fuck does 'as long as you don't break the deal it's fine' even mean? I mean, polygamy isn't exactly uncommon in our circle, but still…

"And if she doesn't take it well? Will she break up with you?" I asked.

He tapped his chin, pretending to seriously consider it. "Nah. She's already invested too much in me. Worst case? When I go back to the Addams manor, she gouges out my eyes so I'm blind. After that, I'll be dependent on her for everything and stuck by her side forever."

I freeze, caught somewhere between shock and horror at his nonchalant tone. "Why are you saying that like it's normal?"

He doesn't answer. Just throws me a casual glance over his shoulder.

"Isn't it? Come on. We're already late. Don't make me show up alone like some loser."

I watch him leave the room and mutter to myself, "He's either a genius mastermind or a psychopathic lunatic. Maybe both. Definitely both."

[Perseus POV]

The rooftop is already alive by the time we get there.

Gothic stonework, low clouds and music bumping through hidden speakers. String lights wrapped around spires like someone cast a "good vibes only" ritual. Shadows moving with the crowd—sirens, gorgons, fangs, furs.

Xavier's still messing with his hair.

I spot Ajax near the drinks, dapping up a werewolf who's halfway into a transformation just from excitement. Yoko's in her usual spot—too cool to care, already nursing a blood-colored mocktail. Divina's in the middle of a circle of horny teens, dancing like she owns the night.

I greet a few people. A vampire from archery class nods at me.

Xavier gives me a quick glance, then quietly excuses himself, sliding over to where Bianca is holding court like a siren queen.

I remember from the TV series that it didn't work out between them. And honestly? Seeing him orbit her like that now… I guess if all the trust-issue drama and blabla hadn't happened, they probably would've lasted longer.

Still, nothing changes the fact that he's a simp. A high-level, willingly doomed simp.

More importantly—he ditched and betrayed me for her. His loyal roommate. His artist buddy... Bros before hoes, man.

So I'm alone. Until I'm not.

Divina materializes next to me in all black everything, grinning like some crazy psycho.

"Come dance with us, sketchboy."

Before I can answer, she grabs my hand and pulls me into a group. There's motion, rhythm, the thump of bass underfoot, people trying way too hard to be the center of attention and honestly? I'm kinda bored.

It's nice, sure, but everyone's already too drunk for it to only be nine p.m.

Who the fuck starts a party at this hour and is already drunk?

Divina hands me a drink and I try it, because she's got a scary-good talent for mixing.

Oh fuck. What's the percentage on this thing? Just one sip and I already feel it. Now I understand why everyone's drunk!

Now we're talking about party.

And then—while I'm letting the beat sink in, Enid slides in. No warning.

She just steps in front of me, back pressed to my chest, hips moving with lazy confidence. The glitter on her skin catches the low light, turning her into some pastel-lit star against the dark skyline. Pink. Radiant. Rebellious.

Her ass rolls back, grinding against the front of my pants with every beat- slow and confident. Subtle enough to pass as casual, sharp enough to be intentional.

Then her hand reaches up—lightly brushing the back of my head, curling fingers into my hair. She glances back, cheeks flushed, biting her lip gently, eyes wide but daring me to respond.

So I do. Lowering my head, I let my lips brush against the sensitive skin just below her ear, right at the edge of her collar.

She gasps at the feathery touch, a breathy sound of surprise and desire that makes my pulse race. I let one hand rest on the curve of her waist, while the other slowly slides lower - not rushing, just savoring the tantalizing friction as I hold her close.

The music throbs around us, and in its pounding beat I let her take control, following her lead as she sways and grinds against me with an erotic abandon that sets fire to my blood...

And for a while, that's all there is.

The rooftop fades. The crowd vanishes. It's just her and me and the music curling around us like a spell.

Author Note:

With this chapter, the fanfiction has finally reached 15k words, so it's ranking time!

Tomorrow will be the first of the two R18 chapters to come out! (Nearly 3k words… you'd better be happy hahahaha)

There will also be a bonus chapter. As for why? Because you gave me a lot of Powerstones? (Thanks, if you spared a few for this poor fellow!) Finally made it into the rankings? Not really.

It's actually a chapter I wrote on a spur-of-the-moment and tossed aside, but several friends who accidentally found it and read it told me I had to publish it… so yeah.

See you tomorrow :)

As for this text? Just ignore it.

It's not like I'm missing about 101… 100… 99… 98… 97 words to hit 15k and refuse to wait until tomorrow to do it. Nope. Definitely not.
