The sound of the siren pierced through and reached the ears of Doctor John and Peter.
Neither of them was asleep.
Hearing the sound of the siren, they both ran toward her side.
Then, to avoid troubling the others, she turned the siren off.
Although a few people had already woken up from hearing the sound, none of them approached her side.
The doctor had instructed them not to.
The two of them removed all the blankets that were covering the tent.
At the same time, the soft light of the moon had already entered the tent.
The doctor and Peter had come close to her side.
Her breathing in and out was clearly audible to both of them.
She moved her lips.
"I have completed it.
Even now, I can hardly believe any of it.
What I experienced a little while ago feels like a mere illusion."
She explained everything that had happened to them in detail.
Except for one thing that she had fulfilled yet another desire.
Hearing everything she said, they stood there in amazement.
The doctor gave her some water to drink.
Meanwhile, Peter was making various notes in his small notebook.
Then he spoke to them both:
"Even after performing the astral projection, I can't see any side effects on Rose.
That in itself is a good sign."
Rose was feeling very exhausted, so sleep was beginning to take over her.
The spiritual world had comforted her.
Therefore, this time the doctor did not give her any sleeping pills.
After bidding farewell to Rose, the two of them stepped outside.
"Thank you, Peter.
If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been able to save her," the doctor expressed his gratitude.
Then the two of them returned to their respective tents.
Peter's tent was a little farther away from there.
He walked toward his tent by the shore.
The sound of the sea waves and the wind repeatedly echoed across the island.
Rose's soft breaths reverberated in her own tent.
And so, that night gradually passed.
The next day, a beautiful morning dawned.
Robert came to the doctor's tent carrying tea.
However, the place was empty.
Robert realized that the doctor must be near Rose.
He walked in that direction.
When he arrived, he called out to the doctor and handed him a strong cup of tea.
As the doctor was about to step inside, Robert called him from behind.
"What happened yesterday?
I woke up after hearing the sound of the siren,
but I stayed away from her because you told me not to disturb her yesterday."
Suddenly, the sound stopped.
"If you don't mind, could you tell me what happened?"
After a brief silence, the doctor spoke to Robert.
"If I told you, you wouldn't believe it."
Having said that, the doctor walked toward Rose with the cup of tea.
Since the doctor had no intention of telling Robert, Robert did not insist any further.
He returned to the duties he was supposed to carry out.
During mealtime, Doctor John stood up and faced the others.
"Because of what was done yesterday, Rose will no longer experience sleep paralysis. I thank you all for trusting me."
Even though the doctor wished for everyone to know what he had done, no one dared to inquire further.
Since the meat had been finished, a few people went into the forest to hunt.
The sun was shining brightly in the sky.
Glenferdin's tent.
The father and son were having a serious conversation.
"What could the doctor have done to save her, Charlie?"
Seeing Charlie's face, Glenferdin realized that his son strongly wished to know the answer.
"He doesn't feel like telling us, so what are we supposed to do? That terrifying form which attacked her hasn't appeared again. Who it might have marked now, I have no idea.
Anyway, I've gained plenty of ideas for writing my novel right here.
But what Doctor John did… I will have to write it as it appears in my imagination.
Now, you go outside. I'm going to write.
The greatest joy I get is when I enter the world of the story I create."
"You don't have any interest in this at all, do you?"
Without stopping to talk to his father, he went outside.
Charlie, when he came out, saw Barry and Arthur standing apart and talking. They weren't talking much with the others.
Charlie walked over to them.
"Hello, friends, why are you standing apart all alone?"
As soon as Charlie approached, he asked them.
"No particular reason. Just to avoid bothering anyone," they replied.
They talked about a few things between themselves. Barry's dream was to become a world-renowned pianist. Arthur didn't have any specific ambition. His only thought was to just hang around with Barry.
And so, they let time pass by.
Doctor's Tent.
Rose still hadn't eaten anything.
Doctor John and Peter sat beside her.
Because of the events that happened the previous night, a dark mark was visible under Rose's eyes.
"Rose, eat this… Doesn't your body need health?"
She wasn't hungry.
Still, under the doctor's insistence, she ate the food.
Peter was observing her carefully,
watching to see if there was any change in her.
Since he didn't notice anything particular, Peter didn't stay there for long.
He walked toward the shore, his eyes fixated on the waves.
A different wind was blowing.
He took a small twig and began drawing something in the soil.
After finishing it, he sat there for a while.
Then, slowly, he stood up and returned to his tent.
The waves erased what Peter had drawn with their hands and went back.
---
Inside the forest.
After catching the meat they were going to eat, they walked toward the dense forest to collect more water.
After walking for a while, they arrived there.
As usual, they collected water from it.
Feeling exhausted, they stayed there for some time.
Tick... tick... tick... tick...
A sound like this echoed in Police Officer David's ear.
He suddenly steadied his ear.
But then, he heard nothing.
Convinced that it must have been just his imagination, he didn't tell the others about it.
As soon as their exhaustion eased, they began walking back toward the shore.
By 4:30, they had reached the shore.
Each of them started preparing to welcome the night.
Since darkness came quickly, they began doing the necessary things for the night.
Thus, the sun began to set in the west.
As the redness of the sun disappeared, the darkness of night spread across the entire island.
The sound of the sea waves crashing onto the shore echoed all around.
Everyone had already gathered around the fire, except one person.
That person was Rose.
As the fire's flames rose and fell, doubts and fears stirred within each of them.
They roasted and ate the meat.
One by one, they spoke about the events that had happened that day.
For a while longer, they sat by the fire to keep warm.
Each of their eyes was fixed on the flames.
The fire gradually began to die down.
Laughter and conversation lessened.
One by one, they returned to their tents.
In the wind, the treetops along the shore swayed and danced.
Leaves that had loosened from the branches fell gently onto the shore.
The doctor walked toward Rose, carrying a piece of meat.
He cut the meat into small pieces and gave them to her.
She ate it with considerable effort.
As soon as she finished, he gave her some medicine.
Rose began to feel the pain in her body lessen slightly.
The doctor placed his hand on her neck to check if she had a fever.
"Tomorrow when you wake up, you should feel a bit more energized. Now, just get some rest."
Saying this, the doctor returned to his new tent.
Rose fell into a deep sleep.
She was in the spiritual world.
There, Rose stood atop a stage.
Just like before, an endless crowd appeared in front of her.
Applause and cheers echoed in her ears.
"This isn't my wish, right? Why is this happening again?"
Rose stood on top of the stage, looking at the rest of the crowd without understanding what was happening.
After returning to a normal state, she began to speak to them.
Suddenly, the faces in the crowd started to change.
Their eyes darkened.
Their teeth became sharp and grotesque.
The applause slowly stopped.
The crowd began to stick out their tongues.
Their joy turned into hunger.
The crowd roared,
"Applause is not enough, we want a sacrifice!"
Each of them rushed toward her, aiming directly at her.
They leaped onto the stage.
Rose suddenly tried to run away.
But since the place was empty, she abandoned the attempt.
The crowd filled the area around the stage.
They extended their tongues toward her, glaring intensely, ready to devour her.
They grabbed her and forced her to the ground.
Using their sharp nails and teeth, they began to bite and tear apart various parts of Rose's body.
Rose screamed in pain.
One of them bit into her heart and pulled it out.
Rose became motionless.
Then, she trembled and woke up from her sleep.
Red bruises appeared around her eyes and face. She quickly placed her hand on the siren, ready to activate it, but then decided she didn't need it.
At that moment, she felt it would be wrong to trouble the doctor.
Rose began to take deep, steady breaths.
Within a short time, she returned to her normal state.
"Is this because my wish was fulfilled? This isn't just a dream. Some kind of danger is coming for me."
Her lips began to tremble.
To be continued...
