Chapter 8
> I fear death—not for any particular reason.
I know everything… but if we set him free,
we'll be erased. I know that.
I'm terrified of power.
He is the one who created everything.
I must support him… no matter what happens.
— Docter
---
Flower had arrived at the place where their little brother still slept silently beneath the frozen ice.
There was no love left in him—
He simply did what had to be done.
Vines wrapped tightly around the frozen surface.
He used force, tightening them until the ice cracked.
And then—
A heavy blow struck the back of his head.
I had arrived… to stop this madness.
> "What the hell do you think you're doing…?"
I looked at Flower.
He wasn't the same Reaper I remembered.
Once, he tried to protect his little brother—
But now? He wanted to kill the very thing he once swore to protect?
> "I don't understand you... But you know as well as I do—
what must happen, will happen."
Flower slowly faded into a field of roses—
Beautiful, but full of thorns.
Once, we admired them.
Cared for them.
But now… they were weapons.
I looked at him.
> "You think I'm weak?"
He seemed surprised by my words.
Then, he smirked…
And just stared.
> "I know you.
You're just a weak little coward."
He lunged at me—
Bang.
> "Damn it! Cheap shot, really?!"
He took a bullet to the arm.
I only smirked at him mockingly.
> "Tech power, baby."
I pulled out a mini-gun and started blasting his body.
> "What the hell?! Are you serious right now?!"
He dove behind a wall, dodging the hail of bullets.
---
Now I understand why in zombie stories, there's never any high-tech weaponry.
---
Flower tried to be clever, attempting to use his roots—
But they burned immediately.
> "You've got to be kidding me—flamethrowers too?!"
He glared at me in rage—
But both of us noticed something.
The ice…
It was starting to crack open.
> "Haha… this is the end."
I pulled out a rocket launcher, aimed right where he was hiding.
> "Damn it!! This is so unfair!!"
I laughed at the voice behind the wall.
> "You're a plant, and you want civil rights?!"
I was just about to fire—
Then I felt it.
A sharp pain from behind.
I collapsed to the ground in agony—
Staring into cold, emotionless eyes.
I lay in a pool of blood…
Slowly fading away.
I've lost count of how many times I've died.
Before… I killed that kid because he went insane.
But now?
He returned the favor—
With something even worse.
Betrayal.
