Chapter 18 - The Chaos Begins

As he is levitating, Kohlrabi is staring down at the massive ancient tree that has been standing for many years.

The wind is blowing over his green hair fixed in a mohawk. His green eyes stare at the tree with calmness.

"Humans will face their destruction. If I have a power that destroys an entire continent, I would grab it and destroy mankind."

He lands on the ground with ease and walks toward the tree. The tree has figs covering its entire body which creates ripple patterns.

He brings out a glowing blue petal. He looks at the tree and slams the petal against it.

The ground begins to shake, and cracks are occurring from where the tree is standing. Kohlrabi's eyes follow the cracks with his eyes, and he looks around him.

The trees below the bridge begin to let out their gigantic wooden hands from the ground. Soon, they arise as a huge wooden golem, and they begin to run in a certain direction.

Kohlrabi hums. "Ah… I forgot, my one last true purpose."

He closes his eyes, and upon opening them, he's floating in the middle of nowhere in a blank dark space.

A colossal wooden humanoid with its emerald flaming eyes is staring down at him.

The colossal begins to speak, "You have fulfilled your task."

Kohlrabi bows his head. "It is my pleasure to fulfill your command. But there's one traitor in the high-ranking seeds."

The colossal says, "Acacia, isn't it? I already saw your memory. That rat, he cut off his connection with my mind."

"What do you want me to do, my majesty?"

"You've already sealed him. I want you to finish destroying mankind, and bring that traitor to me."

A woman wakes up, she's lying down on a wooden floor, and she groans. She moves her upper body, and a man puts a wooden bowl beside her.

"Eat up. You will need to eat."

She turns her head to the man who spoke, and she blinks before rubbing her arms.

"Cold isn't it? Here."

The man lends a white blanket to her. She wraps her body with the blanket, and as she speaks, her tone seems tired. "Ash? Where am I?"

Ash sits on the sofa near her. "You're in my house. The light of the chosen one has appeared in the sky."

The woman chokes while slurping the soup from the bowl, and she turns her eyes at him.

"That means… the chosen one of the crystal has been found by the crystal?"

Ash nods. "Elesia, your sister would be happy to know this wonderful news!"

Ash suddenly stops smiling, and he forms his lip into a thin line. "I'm sorry. I should have told you earlier that she died."

Elesia is staring down at the bowl, and it only has a few of the soup left. A smile forms on her lips but that smile disappears.

Her brows curve downward, and her lip does the same. Tears fall into the soup, making a swirl on impact.

"This is what she has been dreaming of… but now, she's not here to meet the chosen one."

Ash is hesitant as he extends his hand to her back. He straightens his posture and clears his throat.

Suddenly, Ash stands up. He runs toward the curtains behind him and splits them apart.

A red aurora is visible in the blue sky. Elesia's eyes widen as she too is staring at the sky through the window.

"What does that mean?"

Elesia looks over her shoulder, and Ash pulls the mattress from the bed frame.

He pulls a red spear, its blade emanating red light, and an unknown word appears on its body.

"I watched you get struck by Kohlrabi's attack. I was useless, I haven't protected my best friend's sister."

Ash looks at her, his stare is serious. "But now, I am given a chance to protect you.

"Stay here! This house is protected by a barrier invisible to the humans' eyes."

Elesia steps forward. "I want to go with you! I want to help you!"

"Help me?" Ash stops in his tracks before reaching the door, "Or kill the monster that we fought?"

"Killing that monster is also helping you! What kind of question is that?!" Elesia closes her fists, "Look! If you don't want to let me go, I will just make you."

Ash spins the spear while his eyes are locked on her. "Try and push me."

Elesia attacks him with a blast of green energy from her hands. Ash hit against the wall, and a small crack appeared on the wall.

Ash stands up soon enough, and he twirls his spear as he makes a move towards her. Elesia bends her upper body backward, avoiding the blade of the spear.

"This one doesn't know what I'm capable of."

She fires a tiny green beam from the snap of her finger, and it strikes Ash's knee. He grunts and swings his spear down at her.

"She's fast!" he said in his mind.

She jumps closer to him, and launches a fast kick, hitting Ash's cheek. That kick sends him stumbling aside but he summons the fireball on his right eye, and a kick from above cuts his focus.

It turns out, that Elesia swung her foot up and swung it down swiftly to Ash's head.

She speaks with a smirk. "Don't use such an attack or you might break this room."

Ash, seeing the sly smile, puts his palms on the floor before he falls on it. He pushes himself aside and stands up.

His eyes widened, filled with fear. He moves his body aside, avoiding a kick from Elesia.

He grabs her foot and lets her hit the wall as he turns around before tossing her towards the wardrobe.

Her eyes are closed, her brows curved down while groaning. She stands up with open eyes, staring at him with resentment.

"Don't test me," Ash said.

"It took you one move to throw me from my balance while it took me a kick to make you taste fear." Elesia clenched her fists as her green eyes were glowing.

Ash spins her spear. Noticing Elesia's eyes moving on the spear, he delivers a fast swing of his spear.

"Move!" she shouted in her mind.

Her body seems to hear her plea, she moves aside but a thin cut appears on her cheek, and her blood fills it.

As she is moving, her eyes widen as she can feel the warmth of a blade resting on her throat.

Ash's eyes are filled with seriousness, and his lip is formed into a thin line. It was clear that he wasn't happy with her.

"Now, are you going to stay here?" Ash asked, still pointing the spear on her throat.

Inside a certain military camp established in some part of Metro Manila, a soldier sitting on a chair behind a table, picks up the walkie-talkie.

He puts it closer to his ear, and loud voices with the sound of guns being fired, and explosions are audible.

He says, "WHAT'S HAPPENING THERE?!"

The officer from the other line speaks through the walkie-talkie. "There are these huge monsters! They're attacking us!"

The soldier shakes his head in disbelief, his brows curving downwards. "Wait! Monsters?! How come? Make sure that this is not a prank!"

"I am not joking–!"

The voice from the other line changes to the other voice, and that voice is deep and calm.

"Is this what your minions are using to communicate?"

The soldier's eyes widen but he continues being mad. "WHERE IS HE?! WHAT DID YOU DO TO THEM?!"

"Them? Oh, you mean these minions bathing in their blood? Don't worry, they're serving their other purpose."

"Purpose?!" the soldier stood and slapped the desk with his other hand.

"Yes, being a good fertilizer of my kind. My purpose is to destroy this world, and we will be starting in this country."

Before the soldier speaks another word, the communication between them is replaced by distorted sounds.

The soldier's eyes widen, and his balance becomes destroyed, falling onto his seat with a look of disbelief.

He stands up with trembling hands. He runs around and enters a room. Inside the room, soldiers are holding telephones and some face monitors.

"I have urgent things to report!" the soldier raises his voice, "Our men who are patrolling in a forest are attacked by unknown attackers!

"Locate them, and send more of our men in that area! ASAP!"

Those who hear him, begin pressing faster on their keyboards, and the other soldiers are dialing numbers on the number buttons of their telephones.

People stop walking, and their eyes are locked on the man floating above the buildings in Tondo.

That man raises his wooden hands. Light appears in his yellow-green eyes. With a lower of his hands, wooden giants emerge beneath the ground.

They grab the nearest vehicles that collide against their feet, and the giants throw them everywhere.

People are now screaming. One of them stumbles backward as a humanoid clad in iron armor lands in front of him.

That being swings his iron sword towards the citizen's neck but before he hits the citizen, a fireball hits him.

Standing above a traffic light, a tall man with spiky cream hair, and orange eyes which are narrowing.

"Finally! It's time for me to use my powers after a decade!" he generated more fireballs, floating around him like a halo.

The other small humanoids run towards him with their spear and swords pointing at him.

Those who are wielding spears, throw their spears at him but he launches his fireballs in their directions, and the spears get blasted in different directions.

"Useless! I am strong, you know!" he jumped at the humanoids on the ground.

Upon landing, he released a strong wave of flames, pushing the humanoids away but some of their bare body parts got burned.

"A protector?" Kohlrabi looked down at the protector.

He watches the protector blast the humanoids away and shoots the giants' heads with a giant fireball.

"Up here!"

"Huh?"

Kohlrabi turns around. He immediately raises his hands and stops an ink shark's mouth from chomping him.

"Where did this come from?" he asked calmly.

"Hey!"

A young woman emerges from the mouth of the shark and she thrusts her foot towards his face.

Kohlrabi fires an energy beam, disintegrating the shark.

The shark is gone, and no traces of the girl can be found. Kohlrabi inhales deeply but his senses sharpen, and he turns beside him.

Elesia was there in mid-air, going in his direction. She swings her scythe towards him, its blade digging into his chest.

Kohlrabi holds the blade of the scythe while gritting his teeth. "How did you manage to hit me?!"

"How? We used a distraction! A clone of mine with Nash's creation using ink!" The young woman from earlier said in her mind while chuckling while she was sticking her hands and feet on the wall of a nearby building.

Elesia is gazing deep into his eyes, her green eyes shining. "Don't worry, it will not take too long before I end you!"

Ash looks at Elesia while he's fighting against the other wooden humanoids. Her words echo in his mind.

"I know you just want to keep me safe! But I want to ease this heavy thing that I am carrying!

"I will only feel it disappear if you let me kill Kohlrabi! Please! Trust me, Ash!"
