Chapter 1 - Hard Life, School Life

The sunlight is streaming through the gap in the curtains of a room. The walls are grey, and the floor is brown and made of wood.

A young man is sleeping on the bed with a brown blanket covering his body. The alarm clock lets out loud sounds as it shakes, and causes the young man to stir.

"Shit!" he shouted, punching the alarm clock.

In the kitchen, a man in his thirties is flipping bacon on the ceramic pan using a spatula.

He shakes his head with his eyes fixed on the wall clock. "It's 9 am, how come he's not waking up? He's getting late."

"MY GOODNESS!"

He looks at the loud voice coming from the stairs, and there, the young man from earlier is running downstairs.

"Be careful, Nicholas! You don't want to stumble!" the chief said.

Even with his warning, Nicholas stumbles; falling on each step of the stairs. He stands up while the chief is laughing.

"Hey! Laughing at what happened to me is not funny!" Nicholas sat down on the stool facing the table near the sink.

"It's your 99th time falling from the stairs, a new achievement!" Juan, the chief, continued flipping eggs.

"Juan! It's not funny! Plus, it's an accident, not an achievement!"

Nicholas yawns and Juan points his spatula at him with narrowing eyes. "One more yawn and I'll smack your head!"

Afterwards, going down from the public jeepney, Nicholas looks up at the towering buildings of the university.

"I'm bored already! Seeing that university makes me want to go home."

Nicholas looks around, and he turns around before deciding to move his foot.

"Very well, bye-bye!" Nicholas waved at the university while walking away.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?!"

Nicholas stops in his tracks before turning around, and he sighs. He fixes his expression to a neutral one. "I was just going to buy some food. You know that we have 3 hours of subject lectures."

He turned away from her before walking away but the young woman who appeared and interrupted him didn't waver.

"No!"

"Why not, Nelly? Are you that eager to stop me? Go back to Section 1! You have a class to rule, class president."

Nelly watches as Nicholas turns around again but a sly smile manifests on her face.

"Oh? Do you think that I would just stand here without telling you that you are required to attend classes?"

"Why do I care?"

Nelly brings out a paper from her pocket, and she waves her brown hair with her other hand. "Nicholas Verde, you are tasked to attend class with the help of the class president, Ms. Nelly Anne Cruz."

She moves her eyes up, enjoying the look of panic in his eyes. She proceeds to read the words on the paper. "Failure to not be present in class will cause you to fail your grades."

She rolls the paper gently into a circle. She lets out a soft laugh. "The look of bravery and arrogance has left your face."

Nicholas blinks and shakes his head. "No! Plus! There are so many students in the classroom to be partnered with you, why am I tasked to be with you?!"

"Pft! Oh, please, this is a lifetime opportunity to be with me."

"You? What is so special about you?! You're just a class president with a beautiful face."

Nelly smirks as she puts her hands on her hips, and gives him a flirtatious look with a smile on her glossy lips.

"Exactly. Despite being a failure in the class, you have a brain."

She steps closer, and now, she's closer to his face. She looks up and fixes his collar, and Nicholas shivers while staring down at her.

"Keep up with that attitude, and one day, I will just ask you to be my boyfriend."

"Ew!" Nicholas leaned his face backward

Nelly lets out a short feminine laugh before walking away with her hand raised "See you later in the class, Nicholas."

She stops for a while before turning around to face him. "Oh! Just a reminder, attempt to not attend the class, I'll make sure you'll fail."

Inside the class, Nicholas steps inwards into the classroom. The walls are white, and the floor is made of white tiles.

Nicholas walks toward his chair as the students fill the room with their voices while facing one another.

Another student extends her shoes right in front of Nicholas' foot, and he stumbles against it.

He grunts and stands up before turning around to face the culprit. There she was, a young woman with black hair fixed in a wolf haircut.

"So clumsy." she laughed while staring down at him, and she was still sitting on her chair.

The entire class falls into silence; their eyes widening while staring in her direction.

The culprit turns her head around and sees Nelly staring down at her with her brown eyes narrowing and brows furrowing.

"Sup, the class president?" The culprit waved her hand gently.

"Don't you dare touch him again!" Nelly said.

All witnesses begin to gasp as the others are whispering to their seatmates. The words that Nelly said brought fear to those around them.

"I heard that Nicholas is her partner."

"I didn't know that she could be scary!"

"Those women are wildin'."

Nelly grabs the culprit's hair and pulls her closer to her face. Nelly fixates her brown eyes straight at the culprit's eyes, and says, "Don't touch or threaten Nicholas, Ella. If I hear or see you around him, I will make sure you'll rot in this class this whole semester!"

Ella slaps her hand away. "Don't touch my hair. Who are you? His master? His parents? You don't own him, and I can bully him anytime I want!"

"Bingo," Nelly brings out a pen, and she smirks, "this pen recorded everything you just said."

Ella groans and clenches her hands, and Nelly turns her eyes at Nicholas making him gulp.

Nelly smirks at him as she walks away while saying, "Stand and come with me."

Nelly halts, turns around, and narrows her eyes at him. "ASAP. I don't like waiting."

The hours pass by, and Nicholas is walking in the sea of students heading for the exit.

Nicholas smiles. "At last, no more Nelly!"

Stepping out of the university brings a smile to his face as his eyes close and mimic a smile.

"Did you call for me?"

"What?!"

Nicholas stops walking with wide eyes and mouth open wide.

"H-How?"

"How did I manage to get out of the school quickly?" Nelly steps closer, and fixes his id lace, "Because, I want to take you out for a risky ride."

At a distance away from them, Ella is staring at them.

"Nelly, Nelly, Nelly. Are you out of your head? Being concerned and wanting to own that moron."

She cracks her knuckles covered in her black leather gloves. "But I like a good challenge, I'll steal that moron from you."

In an unknown place, what seems to be a massive tunnel whose walls and ground are made of stones, two women are running with wide eyes and mouths open wide.

The entire tunnel shakes and dust falls from the ceiling. An entity lands right in front of them, and it makes them stumble backward.

"What do you want?!"

"Please! Let us go!"

The cloud of dust disappears, and a tall middle-aged woman is standing with her green eyes staring down at them.

She opens her lips covered in dark green lipstick. "Tell me where the descendant is."

One of the women replies with narrowing eyes. "We don't know who that is!"

Her eyes widen and her head falls off her neck, the scene causes her friend to scream as blood springs from the neck.

The entity swings her right-hand vine before returning it to its normal form.

She shakes her head. "Wrong answer. But for you, I'll just eat you."

The entity releases venus flytraps from her bareback, and they all bite the last woman, eating her flesh, and drinking her blood.

The entity chuckles. "Eatwell, my babies. We need all the strength to hunt that last descendant."
