When night came down and the stars began to shine bright in the sky, Orin leaned against the railing beside me.
"Think you'll go for number one next?" he asked quietly.
I smiled faintly. "Not yet, I might not even try."
He nodded. "I expected that."
"You did, how?"
"You seem to have solidified your path more now. You have higher goals."
"Sometimes what we see isn't what we get. Everyone grows, it's just at which pace you can grow as well so you can keep up."
He considered that, then smiled. "Then I'm glad it's you leading us."
The next morning, I put on my new robes and made a twirl as I looked down at myself.
The fabric was cool and light, moving like liquid silver when I spun. Every motion caught the light.
When I arrived at Elder Harun's courtyard, the old man was already waiting under the shade of his pavilion, scrolls spread before him.
He looked up as I approached, his eyes twinkling. "Well, look at you. You've gone and turned into a proper celestial peacock."
