Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Treasure

Chapter 4 Treasure

"Hoo..." Barn was snoring amidst the crowd on the deck. The entire crew had gone wild the previous night, practically all drunk. Barn, forgetting he was a child, drank a bucket too, only to vomit again and again, and still not awake.

"Wake up! Ooooooooooooo! Yooooooooo!" Only Brooke could utter such a strange way of waking someone up. Barn, looking as if he had seen a ghost, quickly stood up and took a defensive stance. The other crew members all rose slowly, greeting each other, clearly used to it.

A burly, bald, mustachioed man stood up and shouted at Brook, "Brook, you're such a jerk! Look how scared you've made that Barn!"

He ignored Barn's reluctance and pulled him into his arms. Barn screamed, "Let me go! You muscular old man! Gay! Pervert!" The man, with a radiant smile, pressed his fists harder and harder.

"Stop... Stop! I'm strangling you to death... to death!" This man was Bronn, the Rumbar Pirates' captain.

"Haha, Bronn, let him go! He looks like you're about to strangle him!" York's voice echoed with his laughter. Bronn, realizing it was Captain York's order, let Barn go. Barn, now looking at York as if he were an angel, had never found the old man so endearing.

"Guys! Remember why we came to this island?" York shouted.

"Treasure!" The men on the ship were filled with fighting spirit, their spirits high and their excitement surging.

"That's right! Haha! Then, let's go! Barn, you follow Brook, he'll take care of you!"

"Oh!"

"Yeah!"

"Tsk!" Brook curled his lips reluctantly. Barn's drunken stupor immediately sobered up when he heard they were going on a treasure hunt. Coming to the One Piece world and not even finding a treasure would be a shame. He still had great aspirations for this treasure.

In the island's forest, Barn lay on Brook's back, while Brook walked slowly.

"Barn, have you ever seen a real demon?"

Barn was confused by the question. "Why do you ask?" Barn replied.

"Captain York said he sensed the aura of a devil fruit on your left arm, but it wasn't a devil fruit ability. He thought it was a curse cast by a demon, so I assumed you'd seen a real demon."

Barn's mind was swirling with thoughts. He was just trying to explain how his left hand, cursed by Kazan, would appear in this One Piece world. Just when he was about to doze off, someone delivered a pillow. York, you really are a good person.

"Barn! Why aren't you talking?" Brook turned to look at Barn's hollow eyes. Barn seemed to notice and quickly turned his head away, while Brook muttered to himself, "As expected."

Barn's acting was undeniably top-tier. He tightened his grip around Brook's neck, tears welling in his unfocused eyes. Then, in a low, raspy voice, he spoke these words:

"Yes, when I was very young, my yard caught fire, and I was captured by a demon named Kazan. He called himself the Wave Demon.

He was very weak at the time, saying he didn't want anyone else to use his abilities. He told me, 'The earth shakes, but the heart remains unperturbed.'

Although the eyes cannot see, they can sense everything. Therefore, those who seek enlightenment through sight are foolish. Abandoning light, cultivating ceaselessly, darkness will eventually become my friend.

Standing above the inky blackness of space and the shaking earth, exploring myself and the surroundings, those I pointed my sword at felt a surge of panic.

Then, they saw the eyes I had already abandoned. The endless black sky was vast, countless pupils hovering. From the very beginning, they have watched all things. Come, gaze upon me, pupil of fluctuation. Pupils that never close, comprehend the extreme of my fluctuations."

With that, he slashed his left chest with his sharp nails, revealing a fruit-like object covered in mysterious spirals. He seized my left hand and thrust it fiercely into his heart. Intense pain shot through my hand.

I fainted. When I awoke, I was blind, and my left hand was like this. From then on, everyone in the village treated me like a monster. Only my parents cared for me unwaveringly, but now... wow, they're gone..."

Just like that, Barn, with his words that were half truth and half lies, deceived Brook and even moved himself. He shed a few cat tears, "gazing" at Brook and sobbing, "Brooke, you don't see us as monsters too, do you?"

Brook sighed and pressed Barn's head. "Fool!" Barn knew his deception had succeeded, and mentally gave a big victory sign.

After a long silence, Brook asked again, "You obviously can't see, how can you sense us?"

"This! I call it the mind's eye. Not only can I sense people, I can even sense the approaching danger and the hostility of the people who come. It is precisely because I don't sense any hostility from you that I dare to approach rashly."

Listening to Barn's answer, Brook nodded from time to time, "Then why do you still want me to carry you and not walk by yourself?"

"I can only feel the breath of people, but I still can't see the road. Besides, wouldn't it be tiring to walk by yourself?" Barn said with a pout.

"You! Get down, walk by yourself!" Brook was about to turn around and remove Barn from his neck, but he saw Barn's big watery eyes, "Brook-san, you really still dislike me.

Brook sighed and gave up the idea of letting Barn get off. He only heard him say with gritted teeth, "You little devil! "When Barn heard him say that, he gave himself 32 thumbs up in his heart!

They walked like this for a long time, and Brook gradually let down his guard against Barn. Seeing such a cheerful Brook, Barn thought secretly that this was the real Brook, a good guy.

"Barn! There is a cave in front, this should be it, the place where the treasure is hidden, haha! I didn't expect that we would find it first, "Let's go! Barn, let's go in and take a look." Brook said happily.
