Max: Seventy one days...??
The mysterious being, who definently was not human, stood there in silence about two meters away from him. As the wind blew, his cloak fluttered. With the staff in hand, he looked down on the kneeling Max, both figuratively and literally.
Max couldn't process the sudden information dump. He already had too many missing memories. Even though most of his memories had returned, he still didn't know anything after he was shot by someone. He didn't remember why he was shot, and he didn't know what happened in the missing four years. He didn't know meeting this Godly being in the so-called "Temple" too.
The Time also stated that he was talking to a God, which possibly resided in Max himself, and he had no idea why. But He had also stated that Max would cease to exist after 71 days. That was something that gave Max an existential crisis.
Max: What do you mean, seventy one days...? Tell me now...!!
Time: I just simply don't want to explain to a mere human like you. I'm done with you talking back to me, as if you are in charge of this conversation!
After Time showcased this almost pitiful behaviour, Max was sure that this being actively hated humans. He was a narcissist.
???: Max...??! Are you there...??
Max turned immediately recognizing the voice. It was a soft voice belonging to a woman, that he had already met. In an instant, a red haired girl came in running. She looked bruised with cuts everywhere in her body. Her jacket was all torn up, and she was breathing hard.
Melissa: Thank God!! I thought you were dead or something...How did you break your fall...??
Max: Umm...I didn't...but anyway...where's Lin??
Max wanted to ask her if the Asian guy with the Kukri blade was safe, but then suddenly realised something.
Melissa: I don't know where he is. But keeping that aside, who were you talking to...??
It was as Max had feared. Even though he had noticed, he thought it was nothing. The cloak fluttering in the air, had suddenly become silent. So when Max turned immediately, he realized that Time had vanished. He was nowhere to be found. The guy with all the answers was conveniently nowhere to be found. And it pissed Max off.
Max: Damn it...!!
Max tried getting up, but his leg gave away. He fell down again, but used all his strength on his knees to finally stand back up. Upon doing so, he thought he would fall again. But instead, Melissa came to the rescue by giving her shoulder to support him. She slowly helped him stand, even though she was bruised. Max felt glad that he wasn't wrong. Melissa was indeed a good person. But since she was way too good, it made him suspicious. Slowly they both supported each other and walked out of the door.
Max glanced at the surrounding areas. It felt like he was in a space opera style sci-fi film. Everything around him looked like an interior of a space craft. Everything looked advanced and massive in size. There were stairs leading to differnet floors. His surroundings was dark compared to the room he woke up in. The lights here were switched off, but it was lit in a shallow way. Somewhere light was entering this craft.
Slowly going through all the rubble, caused by the Samurai, Max and Melissa walked together, stepping in unison. All this damage, done by a single person, and somehow Max was able to stop him for a second. Maybe Max had the powers of the God that Time had mentioned.
But what disturbed Max was the current situation. He had no idea where he was. And there was a scary dude in a hat trying to attack them. There was no way out. And after studying the expression that Melissa had, it was almost obvious that she too was lost.
Suddenly they heard a sound. Of footsteps. Someone was here and they were getting near. Both Melissa and Max wanted to hide, but there were no spots in the narrow hallway with debris that they were standing in.
Out of the shadows from the left, came out a boy. Max was scared that the Samurai had gotten rid of Lin and had come this way. But instead here was a boy, wearing brown tattered clothes. He was a bit chubby in the belly area. And he had a plump face. There were freckles all over his face too. With such an ordinary black eyes and curly hair, he looked unammusing. But it was scary to see a boy that young, almost in his pre teens...about ten or twelve years old, here in this place.
Melissa: You...!
Max turned to see Melissa. It seemed like she knew him and recognized him.
Melissa: What are you doing here..??
The boy was on the other side of the room. He was silent. But then he raised his left arm and pointed at the way he came from. He then turned to Melissa and spoke.
???: The exit is that way. The blue armored brother and the Samurai guy are outside fighting each other there.
The boy said that and started running and withing two seconds he was out of sight.
Max: Okay...I got one question....who was that...???
Max turned to Melissa to ask the obvious question. He hated being the only one clueless about whatever was happening. It felt like he woke up suddenly in the middle of a film's plot.
Melissa: I don't remember his name, but he was a boy we met yesterday a few miles away from here. But I don't know how he came here....we left him there...
Max: And by we...do you mean you and Lin...?
Melissa: Of course..who else..?
Max and Melissa were taking slow steps and trying to go the way that the boy mentioned. They could see the light ahead so Max was okay.
Max: Who is the Samurai then...? Why was he chasing you..??
Melissa: The Samurai is basically a peace keeping officer. I have no idea why he is chasing us though. But he is hell bent on killing us.
Max felt it was way too convenient for Melissa to be innocent. It felt like she was hiding parts of the story.
Max tripped for a second on the lying rubble and turned to look at it. But this time...the stone walls that should be down there, looked metallic. And even worse, these metallic structure looked humanoid. Max kicked away some of the stone that had buried this machine underneath. And what he saw baffled him again for the tenth time since he woke up.
There was a humanoid robot on the ground. With "intricate machinery" written all over him, he looked like a legit android. He had huge eyes, that would light up green if switched on as the glass was green. He had lightways around him which would light up too.
Max bent down and lifted the robot. It was heavy compared to the stones around him, which should've been obvious to Max. He searched all over the robot and finally found something that resembled a switch. Maybe to turn it on.
Max pushed the button and sounds started coming out of the robot. It started shaking a bit, as if life were travelling through it. The lights all around the silver metallic body started glowing. Melissa was mesmerised by this thing, not comprehending what she was witnessing.
The eyes of the robot started glowing green, just as Max had predicted...
