Max had found the perfect outfit he ever wanted. As much as he hated that his blue shirt and pants were still a bit wet, he somehow liked the fit. And since he was fighting and running earlier, it was almost in a dry state. All he needed was something to get rid of the chilly atmosphere.
There was even a slight breeze that entered the clothes room, from the outside. This made Max shiver.
But since Max had found his salvation in the form of the jet black coat, he was fine. He took the coat and wore it, with the jacket reaching to his knees. It was long, and when unbuttoned, it looked incredibly cool. He rolled up the sleeves to his elbow, so that his left arm was visible. It had been some time now, but he was used to his weird arm now. In fact it began looking cooler to him, with him blocking the Samurai's attack with his hand being a major catalyst.
He wore that jacket which had fluffy, fur-like stuff, instead of the hoodie, making him feel more akin to Kraven the Hunter. With his new look ready, he and Melissa walked again to the entrance, or rather the exit of this building a.k.a. the Dome...
The moment Max stepped out he was flabbergasted with the chilly wind and direct sunlight. It felt like he was sleeping for an incredibly long time, and seeing the Sun felt nostalgic for some reason.
Max lifted his right palm and tried to cover his eyes from the direct sunlight, but eventually started seeing again as couldn't ignore the beauty of the sky. It was dark and cloudy on one side, while being purple and blue on the other. The Sun was almost setting , making it seem like it was probably 5 PM.
Max stepped out on the grass and saw the Samurai walking towards Lin, who was fallen a bit far away. The Samurai had such a threatening aura, even more so than before.
So Max shouted at him,, trying to distract him from Lin, calling him out.
Max: Your opponent is me...!!
Max grinned at him, in an evil way, while knowing that the Samurai was blindfolded, and probably can't see his expressions.
Max had a bit of a confidence boost, ever since he fought against the Samurai and somehow was able to hold him off. He thought that if he could match the speed with his eyes yet again, and use his newly acquired speed and durability, he might come out on top.
The Samurai actually ignored Lin, and turned towards him.
Samurai: You.....you are the one that I'm most curious about...
Max felt honoured that he was the most mysterious among the trio. He had never recieved this much spotlight in a while, so he was all up for it.
The Samurai redirected his sword towards Max and started running at him. But this time he was very slow. Did something happen to him....? Max wondered. But he had no time to think. When the Samurai tried to strike , Max blocked him again, with his left arm.
Samurai: What are you even made of...???
The Samurai looked genuinely troubled. It was like him being an innocent ten year old baby trying to solve an extremely difficult puzzle and failing to do so.
Max: Well, you see....I'm somewhat special....
Saying that, Max tried pushing him away again. Melissa started running towards Lin and helped him get up. Lin sat down, as he had almost fallen down due to fatigue.
Melissa: You okay, Lin...??
Lin: Yeah,....I'm fine....you okay..?
Melissa: That's the first time you ever asked me if I'm okay.....
Melissa had a kind smiling face, content with herself, as Lin answered while grunting in pain. But her remark made him snort.
Melissa: You know, for a guy, who says he hates friendship, you really do care about me huh..??
Lin: Shut up...!!
Melissa tried to touch his wound on the wrist, but Lin pushed her hand off. He looked slightly annoyed too. Possibly due to her commenting on his hidden kindness.
Lin: So can you, tie my wound back with your strings...??
Melissa: I can....but not here....it needs more time..!!
As she said that they heard sounds of a sword clashing with hard metal. It was the Samurai trying to attack Max with his Excalibur, as he was dodging it. He was okay to stop it a few times, but as the swings increased, the Samurai's speed also increased, making the reaction window for Max, smaller.
Max flipped to his left as the Samurai attacked him and landed on one of his knees. As he looked up, flipping his hair back, he saw the Samurai charging straight at him.
Max: Yo dude, seriously....why are you doing this...??? I don't get you at all bruh!!
Hearing Max speak like this made the Samurai even angrier.
Samurai: Did you or did you not see a baby inside..?
Max: A baby..??
Samurai: I saw a few bodies inside, but none of them were a baby!!
Max: You want a really young baby..? Either you are someone who wants to be a doting father or a really sick bastard!!
Samurai: Looks like you haven't seen a baby too....that's sad...
The Samurai stopped for a second and bent low. He focused his breathing and suddenly the red gem on his Excalibur started glowing. The heat travelled through the entirity of the sword and the Samurai took his stance.
Lin: Okay, this is our chance! Let's run!!
Melissa: But Max is still.....
Before Melissa could finish her sentence, Lin pulled her away and strted running into the forest behind him. And soon enough they vanished into the darkness behind the trees.
Alone, Max was up against a full charged Samurai.
Samurai: It's a pity that your companions abandoned you...
Max: Wait what...??
Max turned to see them gone...and realised that it was over. He really was left alone.
But still before he could turn and argue, the Samurai was in the air. He was flying towards him at breakneck speed, with his blade on the side, ready to cut him. The closer he got, the more hotter it got around Max. The only way Max could even see the Samurai was due to his glowing eyes. And in an instant, the Samurai was in front of him.
This slash looked extremely powerful, and Max realised that, just stopping it, wouldn't be enough.
He stretched his palm ahead trying to intercept the sword, but in an amazing display of speed, the Samurai turned his body to make sure his blade doesn't touch the arm and went for the chest. Max soon realised that the Samurai was much faster than him.
Max: Oh no..!
He was gonna die...he knew it...but he wanted to see his sister. He wanted his family. The last time this happened, he had accepted that there was no way to fight back, and he wanted to save the two. But this time he was all alone.
And in front of his palm, something began forming. Due to some nuclear fission happening around his fingertips, and the heat generated, he created a new palm-sized star out of thin air....
