Athena's brows furrowed at his tone, but she didn't interrupt.
"Yes, Alpha," Sarah continued quickly. "She… feels it's important."
Kraven leaned back in his chair on the other side of the line, a smile tugging at his lips. He hadn't expected this… not from her. That fiery woman, who had practically burned holes through him with her defiance, now reached out to meet him again.
"Interesting," Kraven mused aloud. "She didn't strike me as someone who'd come running. But I won't deny her request. Tell Athena I'll be there."
Sarah exhaled in relief, though her palms still felt clammy.
"I look forward to hearing what she has to say," Kraven added smoothly, voice dipping into a tone that made Sarah's pulse skip. "And seeing that stubborn face of hers again."
The call ended.
Sarah lowered her phone slowly, afraid to meet Athena's eyes. She hadn't mentioned Xavier, hadn't dared. Athena had insisted on honesty, but this… this omission burned her with guilt.
