Sarah clutched her phone tighter when Kraven's low growl rumbled through the receiver.
"You want funds for Athena?" His voice was edged with suspicion. "Fine but first, tell me… what were you doing yesterday?"
Sarah froze. "Yesterday…?"
"I went to the Omega chambers last night." His tone hardened. "No one was there. Not you, not Gina, not Athena. Care to explain why you didn't report this to me?"
Her heart leapt to her throat. Panic flooded her veins. "I… Alpha, it wasn't like that! Athena got a call… from Dr. Garry. He said it was urgent. I had to go see my brother… he's ill. I thought Athena could handle it with Gina."
"Enough!" Kraven's voice cracked like a whip, sharp and furious. "Do you think I'm a fool, Sarah?"
Her stomach dropped.
"Dr. Garry was with me last night," Kraven spat. "He was treating one of my pack members who was badly injured. He never left my sight."
Sarah's lips parted in shock. The blood drained from her face. "But… Athena said…"
