Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Trial of Spirits (Part II)

Kaelen let out a slow breath amid the frozen wasteland he had created. The frost-covered floor crackled beneath his feet as his exhale turned instantly into a thin white mist.

A spark flared in his right hand—then bloomed into a swirl of blazing azure.

[Infernal Dragonburst]

Flame twisted upward, coiling like a living serpent. Then it took shape.

An azure dragon of pure fire roared to life from Kaelen's palm, spiraling skyward before diving straight toward the frozen Magisteel Golem. Its fanged jaws clamped onto the metal giant's torso

BAA–ROOOOM!!!

The dragon exploded from within, detonating in a brilliant flash of blue flame.Shards of Magisteel burst apart like glittering rain, falling in slow arcs, scattering across the stone floor.

Silence.

Then

"KAAAELENNNNNN!!"

A voice wailed dramatically across the frozen chamber.

Kaelen sighed."Here we go…"

A yellow orb of light descended from above, spiraling and pulsing with exaggerated emotion. It twisted tighter and tighter until—

SHWAAAA—!

Light burst outward in a radiant wave.

From the heart of the fading glow, a silhouette stepped forth:

Ramiris.

the tiny fairy the world knew, the elegant pixie form Kaelen had already seen.

Golden braids drifted behind her like liquid sunlight. Her black-and-gold dress shimmered with soft starlight.Wings fluttered sharply, casting prismatic glimmers across the frozen ground.

She landed lightly, heels clicking, cheeks puffed in outrage.

"KAELEN!!" she whined, pointing at the shattered remains of the golem. "I know it was a trial and he was temporarily your enemy, but did you HAVE to scatter my precious, limited-edition, high-quality, ultra-deluxe Magisteel Golem like THAT!?"

She stomped—adorably.

"Do you even know how long it took me to forge him!? DAYS! Literal days!"Her wings buzzed in furious little vibrations."You didn't beat the boss! You vaporized it!"

Kaelen stared at her, deadpan.

"YOU'RE the one who made us fight it, idiot."

"Eh!? That's—! That's not the point!!"

They bickered back and forth like siblings fighting over stolen snacks.Meanwhile, Lyra, Selianne, and Allaric exchanged utterly lost looks.

Finally, Kaelen groaned and threw up his hands.

"FINE. I'll get you materials for another golem. Stop whining."

Ramiris instantly brightened.

"Yippee!! Okay okay, forgiven!"She twirled midair, wings trailing gold dust."So~! You guys came here for spirit summoning, riiight? Then follow meee!"

She zipped off happily.

they all walked following Ramiris—until they reached the foot of a ridiculously tall staircase.

Lyra stared up in horror.

"Wha—… no way. Do we have to climb all of this!?"

Ramiris giggled. "Hehe~ yup!"

Kaelen stepped forward. "Actually… there's another way."

Lyra's eyes sparkled."Really? What is it—?"

Kaelen smiled.

A mischievous one.

Immediately, a glowing green magic circle formed beneath Lyra, Selianne, and Allaric.

Lyra's eyes widened with betrayal.

"WAIT—NO—NO NO NO—!!"

FWOOOOOOSH!!!

All three were launched straight up the staircase at high speed.

Their screams echoed for several seconds.

Kaelen casually flew upward like nothing happened.Ramiris floated beside him, laughing her wings off.

As Kaelen landed at the top, he flapped his wing once—WHOOOMA powerful gust blasted out, ruffling everyone's hair.

Lyra whined the moment she recovered.

"BROTHER!!! Warn me next time!!!"

Kaelen shrugged. "You asked for the easy way."

Before she could yell back, Ramiris clapped loudly.

"Alright! Time for the summoning ritual! One at a time—step into the center, clasp your hands like you're praying, and channel your thoughts to call a spirit!"

Lyra jumped immediately.

"Me first!!"

Everyone let her go.

She stepped into the altar circle.Soft motes of light bloomed around her—lesser spirits gathering, swirling like fireflies. Then the air trembled—

A Greater Spirit of Light descended before her, radiant and gentle.

Lyra's eyes sparkled like stars.

"H-hi! Um—can I name you? Will you be with me?"

The spirit smiled warmly and nodded.

Lyra clenched her fists in excitement.

"Okay then! I'll call you… uhh… hmm…"She brightened."Luminara!"

The Greater Spirit of Light shone brilliantly, accepting the name.

Her form solidified briefly into a humanoid silhouette before collapsing into a glowing orb that drifted into Lyra's soul.

Lyra gasped. Her knees buckled and she started to fall, but Kaelen caught her immediately.

He infused her with his magicules until she regained consciousness, then helped her sit against the wall.

Allaric snorted, arms crossed.

"Who names a Greater Spirit immediately after burning so much magicule in battle? Idiot."

Lyra laughed weakly. "Hehe… oops."

Allaric stepped forward next.

Lesser spirits gathered—countless small sparks—and then a Greater Spirit of Fire appeared before him.

Allaric bowed slightly.

"Will you be my partner?"

The spirit nodded once, silently, and entered his soul space.

Lyra blinked. "Why didn't you name it?"

"I don't have enough magicules right now. Naming a Greater Spirit can kill you if you're not careful," Allaric said calmly as he returned to his seat.

Then came Selianne.

She walked to the center gracefully. The moment she clasped her hands—

The entire altar reacted.

Hundreds of lesser spirits materialized—far more than Lyra or Allaric had summoned.

Light swirled.Wind rippled.Time itself seemed to… bend.

A Greater Spirit of Light appeared—but behind it—

A second presence descended.

Both Lyra and Allaric frowned, confused.

But Ramiris—

Ramiris went rigid. Her wings froze mid-flutter.Her pupils shrank.

"A… A Greater Spirit of Time…?" she whispered."Why is a Time Spirit showing up—on its own?Why isn't it leaving…?"

A pressure rippled through the air—ancient, heavy, absolute.

Ramiris took a step forward, on guard.

"That's dangerous—Selianne, stay still—!!"

Before she could reach her—

Both spirits transformed into radiant orbs and shot forward straight into Selianne's soul.

Her entire body glowed—light swirling around her like a cocoon—her aura rising rapidly—

Evolution.
