Chapter 80 - Chapter 80. The Web of Betrayal

"Rin…"

In his dazed state, Obito thought he saw the girl he loved beckoning to him. But in the next instant, a white-clad boy appeared and—right before his eyes—fastened a dog-collar-like choker around Rin's neck.

'NO!'

Obito's mouth flew open in a soundless scream as he jolted upright from the straw bedding. His eyes darted around, only to realize he was trapped inside a cage. A gleaming ring encircled his wrist, and his chakra felt completely drained—not a drop left to summon.

"Lord Mizukage." A familiar voice came from the side.

Turning toward the sound, Obito was met with the shark-like face of Kisame. He took a deep breath, his voice hoarse. "We've been captured by Hayashi Yuto?"

"Seems that way." Kisame grinned, nodding. "Quite the feat, really. Even someone like you, was no match for him."

Obito lowered his head in silence.

It was hard to believe. He had lost—to a brat who hadn't even graduated from the Konoha Ninja Academy. Worse, he didn't even know how he lost! How were there two Hayashi Yutos? Was it a genjutsu?

But he had the Mangekyō Sharingan!

What kind of genjutsu could fool even that? Absurd!

And what about Rin?

He remembered burying her remains in a place only he knew. How had that kid managed to Edo Tensei her back?

It didn't make sense!

None of it made sense!

"So these are the two new arrivals?" A smooth, mature woman's voice suddenly cut through the air.

Obito and Kisame's eyes widened as a maid—who was also, a giant insect—appeared before them.

"Yes, Lady Chōmei." A guard standing behind the insect maid bowed respectfully. "They've already been fitted with suppression cuffs. Shall we assign them to labor duty now?"

"They're still injured. Wait until they've recovered." Chōmei shook her head.

"These two don't have a ransom or a release date. Should we still assign them to the breeding farms?"

"No. Send them to the reclamation zone with Kurotsuchi and the others."

"Understood."

As the insect and the guard turned to leave—

"Wait." Obito's voice was low, dangerous. "Where's Hayashi Yuto? I need to speak with him."

"You're Uchiha Obito, aren't you? A mere prisoner, daring to demand an audience with our leader?" Chōmei paused, her insectoid eyes boring into him. "Who do you think you are?"

Obito was rendered speechless, frozen in place.

"Lord Mizukage… are you alright?" Kisame eyed Obito's constipated expression with concern. "Don't get angry—your wounds might reopen."

"I don't need you to remind me!" Obito sucked in a sharp breath, teeth clenched. "Get ready. We're getting out of here soon."

He was certain no prison could hold him—not with Zetsu on the outside.

Once they pinpointed his location, escape would be trivial. And when that happened? Hayashi Yuto and this smug bug-maid would pay for their arrogance.

*BZZT.*

Just then, the wall opposite them split open, revealing a massive screen. Footage began to play.

"This is…" Obito frowned. "The Naka Shrine?"

Indeed, the scene displayed was the Naka Shrine, with the white-clad Yuto standing beneath its torii gate.

"Impressive. You actually beat Obito."

A black-and-white head popped up beside him, and Obito's face instantly twisted in horror.

'Zetsu!'

It was Zetsu!

"What the hell?"

How did he know Obito had lost? And why did he sound so pleased about it?!

"I owe my survival to your warning, Senior Zetsu." Yuto smiled, oozing flattery. "You're truly my savior."

"Tch. You're not bad, kid." Black Zetsu smirked, clearly enjoying the praise. "Even with me telling you Obito's intangibility weakness, beating him was no small feat."

"OH, YOU—!"

Obito's molars ground together so hard he nearly cracked them.

"TRAITOR!"

This bastard was the traitor! No wonder the brat seemed to know him so well—Zetsu had sold him out!

'Damn it!'

And Rin's remains? Definitely stolen by Zetsu and handed over to that little monster!

"That backstabbing piece of filth—!"

"Senior Obito is formidable. I learned a lot from our fight." Yuto sighed wistfully. "Senior Zetsu, when should I fulfill our deal?"

"No rush." Black Zetsu waved a hand dismissively. "For now, just stay in Akatsuki and keep gathering the Tailed Beasts. When the time's right, I'll hand over his bones."

"I look forward to it." Yuto nodded solemnly.

"Before that, though… take me to see Obito." Black Zetsu's grin turned vicious. "I want him to know exactly why he lost. After that… feel free to add him to your undead army."

'Zetsu, you—!'

Obito's breath hitched. He really wanted to scream obscenities.

'You absolute DOG!'

Not only had this bastard betrayed him—he was going for the ultimate humiliation?!

SCREW YOU!

At this moment, Obito's hatred for Zetsu far outweighed his hatred for Yuto. He wanted to rip him apart with his teeth!

"Of course. Right this way." Yuto tapped the air, and a black void yawned open.

"What's this?" Zetsu blinked.

"The Black Void—a spacetime ninjutsu of my own creation." Yuto stepped inside, smiling. "I guarantee you'll find the experience… enlightening."

"Spacetime ninjutsu, huh?" Zetsu hesitated, then grinned. "To think you had this kind of talent. Color me impressed."

Unaware of the trap, he followed.

But when Zetsu emerged on the other side, he was met with a very unexpected face.

"Hanzō the Salamander?! You—you're supposed to be dead!"

He'd watched Pain kill this man. There was no way he'd survived! So how was he standing here, flesh and blood? Not an Edo Tensei? Impossible!

Unlike Obito or Itachi, Zetsu had seen Edo Tensei in action—and this was not it.

"Welcome to the Land of Waves, Mr. Zetsu." Hanzō smirked. "You're under arrest for crimes against global peace! You have the right to remain silent—but anything you say will be used against you!"

"Arrest?!" Zetsu's eyes bulged as he whipped toward Yuto. "What the hell is this?!"

"Exactly what it looks like, Senior Zetsu." Yuto winked. "Enjoy your enlightening trip?"

"YOU LITTLE—!" Zetsu finally realized the trap—and immediately tried to burrow away.

But before he could move, white spores erupted from the ground, engulfing him and White Zetsu completely.

"No use struggling. You're not going anywhere." A spiral-faced White Zetsu emerged, grinning smugly.

"Y-You—!" Black Zetsu gaped in disbelief. "You dare betray us?!"

"Get it straight—you're the traitors here." Spiral Zetsu smirked as countless White Zetsu clones rose from the ground behind him. "Now do you understand?"
