"So, what do you make of this Vigilante? Dr Reginald?"
All eyes fell to the man who walked in — Dr Reginald, the man Night Hunter supposedly saved.
He sighed.
"He is no threat to our plans, just like Dr Helen predicted."
Dr Helen pushed her glasses back up the bridge of her nose, she avoid eye contact with the vice leader of the syndicate. She wasn't one to brag, not especially to an outcast or a far less intelligent creature than herself.
But the vice leader could feel it. It was like an aura she couldn't help but release.
"What made you arrive to that conclusion?" The vice leader questioned, refusing to give up hope.
"It's as Dr Helen said, he's just a kid. Any grown adult or at least potentially smart individual would have realized that breaking into Nex Industries was next to impossible, especially for low life men."
"Hey! Watch it, those are my men you are talking about!" The vice leader snapped.
"Sorry, I meant low life thugs." He rephrased his statement.
"Why you-"
THUD!
Alexander tapped the table, calling for order. And the vice leader responded in kind, controlling his anger to prevent a misunderstanding.
"Tsk."
"So, Doctor Reginald, is that all you accessed?"
"No." He began. "Our little operation to discover is the Vigilante is a threat to our plan was a success, not only is he a kid. He's a foolish one, he's working alone. But, this operation wouldn't have been a success if not for our losses."
"What losses?"
"In an attempt to save me, one of the kidnappers had to take a blast from the big one's cybernetic cannon. I believe his name was Carlos." He said plainly, completely unaffected by the death of his supposed accomplice.
"Carlos!?" The vice leader stood to his feet. "What happened to Carlos!?"
"He took a plasma beam to the chest, no normal human could survive such a blast, I believe his soul is on it's way to the threshold between life and death."
The vice leader ran out of the room immediately, distressed. He couldn't believe his ears. "Carlos!"
"Hey! We're not done with the meeting yet!" Dr Helen called out to him.
"Leave him." Dr Reginald said. "We don't need him anymore, he needs to grief the loss of his cherished comrade."
"Hm, you're quite cold Dr Reginald. You feel no remorse for the death of his comrade, despite being the one who planned this operation." The CEO of Nex spoke with a grin.
"No, Mr Alexander. I'm just moving forward, while I'm deeply touched by the death of his men, it was a casual factor to our mission. Our mission to purge mankind of it's disease."
"I like your passion Dr Reginald. Very well, I'll acknowledge your dedication by providing you with all the necessary resources you need. In the meantime, is she ready?" Alexander stood to his feet.
"Yes, the Gene Matter Serum has successfully bonded with her genetic code, her abilities should fully manifest once the first operation his complete." Dr Reginald replied.
"Excellent. Then we begin the division effective immediately. But I must say Dr Reginald, you are indeed quite brutal, to use your own daughter as part of your experiment?"
"It's nothing like that sir, I'll make sure nothing happens to her, and no one will take her away from me... Just like they did to her mother."
..
[Ding!]
[Ding!]
[Ding!]
"What the fuck!?" Mason couldn't sleep, his phone kept buzzing with notifications from the Night Hunter fan page. Messages dropped every second, every minute.
And it drove him crazy.
He sighed. Picked up his phone from his side of his bed table, and logged into his fwitch account. There were about 99+ messages with him tagged to it.
But that wasn't all.
"1500!?"
The Night Hunter's fanpage now had more than one thousand followers, and each of those followers commented under his post.
[Shadow Hunter405: Holy Shit! It's really him! It's really Night Hunter!]
[ShadowMornach: Bruh!!! I thought you were joking!? You're really here!?]
[leon_lionheart: So the suit's legit? Okay. I WANT MORE!]
[Night Soldier: BRO TOOK A HIT FROM A FUCKING PLASMA BEAM AND GOT UP LIKE IT WAS NOTHING!? CRAZZZZZY!]
[NightLover12: Night Hunter!!! I love you!!🥹🥹🥹Can I have your number?]
[ShadowLegion23: LMAO, bitch twitching]
[Night Soldier: @NightLover12, get lost, bro's low-key Batman, he pulls more bitches than you chubby goths!]
[DullNighter236: Um, if you don't mind me asking, why do you do what you do?]
[leon_lionheart: But seriously tho, if you're the real deal, why join a fan page when you could have just made your own account like the rest of these superheroes?]
Mason scrolled through all the comments, it was hilarious, but at the same time — he didn't know how he could answer all. So he started by answering the reasonable ones.
[NightHunter: @leon_lionheart: Dunno, guess I'm just not into this fame stuff like those people. I'd rather just stay low-key from here and do what I do best. Hunt the night through the shadows.]
[NightSoldier: Hm hm!! Night Hunter be dropping bars like he drops criminals! 😭🤲]
[leon_lionheart: @NightHunter: Oh, I see. But creating your own fwitch page doesn't necessarily mean that you should do it just for fame. You could use it to spread awareness, you know? Letting the people of Nova City know that even when these heroes aren't there for them, you'll always watch their backs from the shadows.]
[NightHunter: @leon_lionheart: I'm no hero, and I have no interest in being one. I only do this because I have to.]
[leon_lionheart: @NightHunter: Then do it for justice sake, there are crimes that not even these heroes will ever consider. But you will, I understand that you have no intention of being a hero, but didn't you start all this to make a difference?]
Mason sat up fast.
He was right. Not about creating his own page, but making a difference. Now that he thought about it, he had no way of taking these corporate agencies down, physically anyways.
If he wanted to take them down smartly, what better way was there than to expose the truth about the Gene Matter Serum? And to make the public lose fate in these false heroes?
[NightHunter: @leon_lionheart: You have a solid point... I think I just might.]
