Chapter 29 - Night Hunter Vs The One Handed Demon Of The Syndicate

Most of the comments said the same thing.

[That was awesome! When will be your next stream? I'm definitely going to watch it!]

[Yeah! When will you be streaming next?]

Most of the comments said the same thing, he wasn't sure about streaming, but one thing was for sure after he paid the one handed demon of the syndicate a visit.

He fwitched.

[New video dropping tonight.]

The comment section erupted, while some were disappointed because they couldn't wait all night before a video dropped, some were thrilled. Finally, they'd get to see more action from the vigilante.

The night was still young. That meant Jackson's chances of escaping were high. If he wanted to catch him and milk him for all the information he had, he needed to do at a secluded time.

A time where the shadows were truly his ally.

"12 midnight, that's when I strike."

As of late, his Aunt Sonia grew suspicious, not of his identity — but where he always was when she came home from work. Three days in a row she came back to an empty house, with Mason arriving minutes later.

She almost came up with an idea to chain him every night, but after telling her the news of his breakup, she bought it — thinking he was just taking in some fresh air to cool his head.

At least this way, he'd be sure she won't grow suspicious anymore.

Midnight arrived like the sudden break up text he got from Vanessa, his aunt came back hours ago — and it was the perfect time for him to strike.

He suited up in the Shadow Mark I, locked his bedroom's door just in case, then lept out of the windows, taking to the rooftops in the dead of the night.

He perched at the edge of a rooftop as the lenses of his masked whirred to life. Within it's complex designs, a HUD shot up in his line of vision and showed a map of Nova City.

In the map, a location was pinned — the address H.A.V.A managed to extract from the Nova City's police department database, the address of the man he hunted this night.

"Hava, begin recording, but be sure to cut out any irrelevant parts."

[Understood.]

He travelled through the rooftops, with his strength, his agility, his speed and his stamina multiplied thanks to his recent level ups — it became more easier to move through the rooftops with ease.

"Our objective for tonight, extract some information from the one handed demon of the Purple Nova Syndicate. I can't reveal the details yet, but when we get our answers — all will be revealed." He said as every step he took, every word he uttered was recorded by H.A.V.A.

In a matter of minutes, with his heightened physical abilities — he arrived at his destination. It was a small neighborhood, located near the outskirts of the city. It was perfect, far away from all authorized personnel of the city, making it easier for Jackson to escape.

The neighborhood was quiet as it should be at this hour, so he made his move. He followed the directions of the map, and before he knew it, he stood directly above the designated house.

"Alright." He drew the digitally advanced carrier to his chest, tapped the touch panel, and a translucent blue panel shot up. "Hava."

From his mask, he received a code which he inputted into the blue panel, then it shimmered with energy.

The touch panel of the carrier slid open, revealing a small but nigh bottomless space within. And from it, nanites emerged, twisting and swirling around his hand before it solidified into a definite shape — a hand-held gun with an intricate design.

[You have summoned the Type-6 Disruptor]

"From the description you gave me earlier, this disruptor is the perfect break in tool, not to mention it'll be highly effective against his cybernetic arm." He aimed the disruptor at the roof below, then pulled the trigger.

BIZZZZZT

It shot a beam of multicolored energy at the roof, and it gradually, a hole formed at the target spot. It was quiet, too quiet, and that's because the disruptor didn't cause damage externally — but internally, breaking down the cellular and molecular bonds of any matter.

In a matter of seconds, a human sized hole was carved through the roof, without a screech. "Awesome... I think I just found my new favorite tech."

He jumped in, and landed on a bed.

"Huh?" He looked around, and indeed he broke into Jackson's bedroom. "What the hell? Talk about bad luck, I'm lucky he wasn't in here, or I'd lose the element of surprise."

He climbed down from the bed, made his way to the door and carefully, and slowly opened it. The apartment was small, so he could hear the sound of the television playing.

He walked carefully, controlling the strength in his legs to prevent leaving so much as a creak on the floor.

And there he was — the man he came to see, or rather interrogate. Watching television, or that's what it seemed at first glance.

As Night Hunter got closer, he noticed Jackson had zoned out, lost in his thoughts. He paid no attention to what the television was playing, but deeply in his own thoughts.

As Night Hunter took a step forward, Jackson's eyes twitched a bit, and he immediately sat up and turned, reconfiguring his arm into a cannon. "Who's there!?"

Luckily for Night Hunter, he slipped easily into the darkness before Jackson saw him.

'What the hell? Does he have super hearing or something? How the hell did he know I was there? Tsk what a pain.' He thought.

Jackson kicked the couch, and surprisingly, it was hurled backwards at where Night Hunter previously stood at a great speed.

It broke into several pieces, all dropping with a thud, providing the perfect distraction for Night Hunter to make his move. He used the noise to his advantage, slipped through Jackson's blind spot and pointed the Type-6 Disruptor at the back of his head.

"Don't move, or you won't be able to ever again."

He said with a deep voice, pulling back at the revolver of the Type-6 Disruptor. "What does the Purple Nova Syndicate want with the Gene Matter Serum?"

Jackson's eyes went, and he stopped his initial plan to blast the intruder to several pieces. "What? How the hell do you know about that?"

"I assume that's the only reason you have to try and kidnap that scientist from Nex Industries."

Jackson's eyes wavered, then his brows furrowed in rage. It all came to him. "Night Hunter..."

"That's right, now you're going to t-"

Almost immediately, Jackson swung his cybernetic arm with a great speed, a speed would consider inhuman. There wasn't enough time to react, so he pulled the Type-6 disruptor from his head and in the path of his arm.

The impact destroyed the Type-6 disruptor in one hit, and it hurled Night Hunter across the room like a ragdoll. He crashed into the dinner table, but luckily he didn't sustain any severe damage.

"Night Hunter.." His Cybernetic arm pulsed with a red glow, lighting the living room up with a red light. "I've been searching all over the City for you, you bastard!" Veins bulged from Jackson's forehead, and his rage skyrocketed each time he remembered how his beloved friend died.

"That makes two of us." Night Hunter stood to his feet.

"I'll make you pay for killing Carlos! The Purple Nova Syndicate will have your head!"

"Check again, your beloved Carlos died all because you couldn't aim properly."

"How dare you!?" He pointed his cybernetic arm cannon at him, and it flared to life, charging up a beam.

"Tsk. Hava!"

[Yes master.]

[Inputting code for the Azrain Excalibur...]

[The code has been inputted.]

[Summoning Azrain Excalibur...]

The touch panel of the carrier slid open again, and from it, nanites emerged, twisting and swirling around his hand before it solidified into a definite shape — a 30 inch one handed blade with a red and grey color scheme.

Jackson fired a powerful beam of plasma energy at Night Hunter, and at the last second, he sidestepped, narrowly escaping danger by throwing himself to the side in a dive roll.

The plasma beam tore right through the walls, creating an explosion that slightly shook the neighborhood.

Night Hunter got up immediately, and lunged forward at Jackson with the Excalibur in hand. "If this blade is strong enough to penetrate a Ravamite, then slicing off his cybernetic arm would be no problem."

He closed the distance between them, and Jackson grunted. His arm immediately reconfigured from a cannon to a sharp, long blade.

He swung the blade with all his might, and Night Hunter countered with his. Their blades clashed, sending several sparks flying.

Night Hunter's lenses widened a bit, despite the difference in durability of the sword, for some reason, their physical strength was leagues apart, and Jackson hurled Night Hunter towards the ceiling.

'What!? I might not be as strong as these superheroes, but I've levelled up to a point my physical strength is arguably on par with the strongest human and his limit, and yet he still pushed me with ease!?' He thought.

"Die!" His arm reconfigured into a cannon again, and he fired another plasma beam at him while he was airborne.

[Recommended: Energy Excalibur.]

[Summoning energy disc.]

From the touch panel, nanites emerged again, and surrounded the rotor on the excalibur's handle, before taking the form of the energy disc.

"Thanks Hava." With one finger in the hole of the handle, Night Hunter spun the excalibur rapidly, charging the rotor with kinetic energy. As the Kinetic energy built up, a surge of red energy surrounded the sword as it spun.

At the last second, Night Hunter held the excalibur tightly, and sliced through the air — releasing the built up energy at the plasma beam. It sliced through the beam like butter, then moved fast towards Jackson who didn't expect it at all.

His eyes went wide as the energy slash sliced through his cybernetic arm, and he dropped to his right knee, clutching his sliced arm, groaning.

The cybernetic arm was connected to his nerves, so he felt the pain.

Night Hunter landed on his feet, then pointed the excalibur at Jackson. "I won't ask again, what does the Syndicate want with the Gene Matter Serum?"
