He smiled, waiting for the chaos to erupt, so far only one picture of him was out in public, with the picture of his upgraded costume, he was sure to cause a stirr in the fan page!
And it was predictable as ever.
Seconds later, comments flooded the post, and it hadn't been up to a minute.
[NightSoldier: LMAO!]
[ShadowMonarch23: Bruhh what AI did you use for this?]
[HunterLover12: ššBro has to have reached THAT level of attention seeking to pull off an AI art this clean]
[NightGooner534:Clean! AI tho, but shit is clean!]
Mason couldn't help but laughāit was exactly what he expected. With the level of technology in Nova City, creating AI art was ridiculously easy, so of course they all assumed that's what it was.
He fwitched.
[Night Hunter: Lol, I know what you all must be thinking, it's AI, but it's really me.]
He hoped to clear the air, but the comments came back even crazier.
[Lady Impulse: Sure, and I'm Lady Impulse.]
[Impulser226: ššš]
[Ieon_lionheart: The art is clean and all but come on dude, it's actually getting sad.]
Mason scowled at the flood of comments, and at that moment, only one idea came to mind to silence them. He could have made his own page, but this way felt more low-key, and a lot funnier.
He didn't drop any comments again, he didn't have to, not after the idea he crafted up.
"I guess there's only way to prove to them I'm really the Shadow Vigilante, H.A.V.A, are missions and quests still unavailable?"
[There is a current mission that's available.]
"Great, what is it?"
[A silent alarm has been tripped at Nex Industries.]
"What!?" He got to his feet, standing at the roof's edge with his eyes fixed on the watch's interface.
"Nex Industries? What idiots thought it was a good idea to break into one of the most secured facility in Nova City?" For a moment, he wondered if even H.A.V.A. could break through Nex Industries' security system, then he recalled that she had already linked herself to every satellite orbiting the planet.
He moved swiftly across the rooftops, not like Batman who could leap from one to the next with ease, but with each jump measured and precise. When he reached the edge of a roof too far from the next, he relied on the grappling hook built into the Dual Specter to carry him across.
Finally, he arrived at Nex Industries.
He shot a grappling hook that caught on the side of the building, then swung forward until he reached a window on the seventh floor.
He drove his fist through the glass, shattering it, then reached in to twist the handle and pull the window open.
He activated the infrared mode of his S.K.U.L.L feature and glanced at every corner as he walked through the 7th floor, blending in perfectly with the shadow.
Then he saw it.
Below him, four heat signatures glowed through the office ceilings, two men had cornered another and were dragging the third across the room, while the fourth remained motionless, watching as if savoring the scene.
"I think we found our intruders." He glanced out the window with a smile, he loved making an entrance, and now the wildest idea for one had just come to him.
"Hava."
[Yes master?]
"I don't suppose you can record this crime?"
[I can, would you like me to record everything?]
"Yes."
He leapt from the open window, dropping toward the sixth floor before firing a grappling hook back to the one he'd just left. It caught firmly, and he swung himself toward the window just below the seventh floor.
With a sharp crash, he burst through the window, glass scattering across the floor as he landed in a crouch on the table directly before the four men.
"So you're the idiots who had the balls to break into Nex Industries?" Looking ahead, he saw three masked men and a scientist, with the scientist wearing a lab coat with a name tag that read "Dr. Reginald".
"You're finally here." The man that watched the other two stepped forward, removing his mask as he stared down at the Vigilante, beneath his mask, he wore a digitalized eye patch.
"You sound like you were expecting me." Night Hunter replied as he climbed down from the table.
"You have a knack for showing up where crime is and police and superheroes aren't."
"Is that right, if you knew I'd show up, why risk it anyways?"
"Why? Because it's fun!" The man stretched out his right hand, and it slid open automatically like a panel, revealing an energy-powered cannon that unleashed a concentrated blast of plasma in the very next moment.
"Die!" He aimed the plasma beam straight at Night Hunter's chest, and the blast tore through his armor, smashing him across the table before slamming him into the office floor. The beam's power was so great it could cut through metal as easily as slicing butter.
"GAH!!!" Night Hunter groaned in pain, even after taking that blast head on, he was unharmed, but it didn't mean he escaped unscathed.
"Hava!"
[Beginning status report]
[You have no injuries or wounds, however the concentrated plasma beam has vaporized all the protective layers of the Shadow Suit Mark I, if you take another shot like that, not even Nano Regeneration might save you on time.]
"Seriously?" He got up to his feet, still feeling the pain at his midsection, but it was something he could endure for the time being.
"Oh? You got up from that blast? You're even more formidable than he says! Let's have fun! Night Hunter!!!" He unleashed another blast of plasma at him, but this time Night Hunter was ready, twisting into a swift acrobatic move that carried him to the side, narrowly escaping past the beam.
Night Hunter scoffed, before reaching into his utility belt. "You forgot one thing."
"And what's that?"
"You forgot why they call me Night Hunter." He threw a smoke bomb down on the He dropped a smoke bomb to the floor, and as it burst into a thick cloud of dust, he vanished into it. "The Shadow is my ally."
"Oh? If that's the case." The man's digital eye patch glowed red as he aimed the Canon at the smoke. "It's my ally too!"
He fired a beam of energy directly into the smoke, and he wasn't off target, it went straight for Night Hunter.
"What!?"
