"You're breaking reality," Gluttony warned.
Shade whispered, "That's the point."
The ground quaked as the colossal tendrils of shadow crashed into Gluttony. They wrapped around him, squeezing, constricting, crushing.
Gluttony roared, his voice bending the air, but Shade only laughed harder, ecstatic and breathless. His shadow dome expanded violently, swallowing every last flicker of light.
Marcus screamed somewhere deep inside, begging, pleading, fighting for control. Shade didn't even notice.
"Ohhh, it's coming," Shade whispered, eyes dilated with feverish anticipation. "Whatever you're hiding, it's pushing. It wants out." He leaned close enough to whisper into Gluttony's fractured ear. "I'll help it."
Gluttony did not move at first. Not when Shade's colossal tendrils squeezed his regenerating body. Not when the black shadows tore through the earth, digging trenches that would swallow mountains whole.
