"What I want you to know," Eldira said. "Is that, the moon goddess can do many miraculous things. She can create new bonds instantly, which I believe is what happened between you two. You've been given a second chance. Do not hurt my granddaughter."
With that, she turned and walked away, her steps soft against the stone.
Aedric did not move.
Then a familiar voice broke the silence.
"Princeling, why are you standing here alone?"
He looked up.
Rell stood in the archway, the torchlight catching in her dark hair and warming her face.
He did not think. He crossed the space between them and pulled her into his arms, holding her as if the world might take her away if he let go.
Back at the party, everyone was enjoying themselves. Even Maravelle was drinking wine, finally letting go after the long day.
Then she saw them.
Iselle was dancing with Alaric.
Maravelle frowned. When did they meet? And how?
Iris came up behind her.
"Mother."
Maravelle flinched and turned too fast.
