Dain watched him leave, the sound of his heavy boots fading down the stone corridor.
Then he turned his attention to the woman standing stiffly before them.
Her face was pale, her normal air of confidence completely shattered, replaced by naked fear. She stood rigid, flanked by Dorian and another guard. who ensured she made no sudden moves.
"You heard the command, Chamberlain," Dain said. He paced slowly, circling the terrified woman like a predator.
"Your sister, Lady Orla, is implicated in the abduction of the Queen Consort, Lady Lara."
Ysara swallowed hard, her voice shaky.
"I... I knew nothing of this, commander. Nothing! My sister is foolhardy, yes, vain, perhaps, even selfish at times, but treason? Abduction? Never."
"She used the royal seal, Chamberlain," Dain cut in, stopping right in front of her. "She forged a decree to pull Dorian from his post. She led the Queen Consort away, under enchantment, to Goddess knows where."
