Mira and Seralyn quickly bowed then hurried out, leaving Lara alone with him.
Lara's heart began to race, but she couldn't say why. She rose from the bed quickly and bowed her head.
"My king… what can I do for you?" she asked, her voice softer than she intended.
Lara's pulse quickened. She could feel his presence as he moved to stand in front of her. She stood still, her hands twisting in her gown.
Thornak didn't answer right away. His gaze swept over her slowly, almost like he was restraining himself.
"You shouldn't call me that," he said.
"I don't understand Your Majesty?"
He stepped even closer.
"Thornak," he said. "Just… Thornak."
"T-That sounds terribly inappropriate, my king," she murmured. "I might get into trouble for calling you by your name."
Thornak's lips curved into a quiet laugh.
"Well I am the king. Who else could you possibly get into trouble with?"
Lara smiled despite her unease.
"I came to join you for breakfast," he said.
