The war room went completely silent as every man turned toward the high window. Outside, the clear night sky began to change, turning a dark, heavy purple.
Slowly, the soft moonlight turned a deep, bright red. High above the mountains, the full moon was changing, shining like a ball of fresh blood.
Blood Moon.
Thick black chains covered the entrance, holding something powerful inside.
Blue Moonfire burned around the cave, keeping the darkness sealed from within to keep anyone from entering. Sparks ran along the chains, lighting up the strange markings carved into them.
A low, deep growl rumbled from within, faint at first, then rising louder and fiercer.
One of the chains cracked. Then another. The sound echoed through the mountains.
The chains were breaking.
Far above, the moon slowly turned blood red.
And it would remain that way until the chains were repaired.
