"This is getting easy..."
I muttered, heaving my sword onto my shoulder absently, watching the dissipating form of the Beowolf along with its brethren. I eyed the item drop on the ground wearily, my eyes narrowing for a moment, before sucking in a deep breath and bending down to get it.
Alluring skull... it was an alluring skull, great, just what I needed, if a Zombie outbreak happens, I'll be sure to use this stupid item in a world without zombies... Allegedly, because between catgirls, whatever Aura and Semblances were, and these monsters, I would not rule Zombies out yet.
It would really suck if I had to decapitate someone I got to know, though.
Now though... I had to go back to the city... I was a whole day away... Great.
I sighed, sheathing my sword and walking off down the road. This was going to be a long walk...
This did not help the fact that I had nothing to think about. Life after I arrived at the city was practically monotone: fight Grimm, go back to claim the reward, fight some more Grimm, claim more rewards, wait a day to not seem suspicious about always taking missions without a break, rinse and repeat.
Easy right? Wrong!
This just reminded me of every novel I complained about, about always rushing to the convenient parts, never showing the normal days.
But now I understood, normal days were boring...
And doing everything over and over again was also, rather boring.
I hummed, looking up as a sound too unnatural for the wilderness reached my ears, staring up at what looked like a damn space craft...
Aliens spotted.
My body tensed as the aircraft passed over me, my eyes tracking it for a moment, wondering where the hell the propellers were, but then again, they had freaking holograms here, so I guess hovering ships shouldn't be this surprising.
I looked slightly lower, wondering where it was heading, and realised that it was probably going to pass over the sea, the same thing I was saving up to do, but instead of flying, I had to take the peasant's way through.
I sighed and continued my way back to the town. I needed to hustle harder... Back to the grind.
By the time I got back to the city, it was already late at night. I took out my license, as low-ranking as it was, which got me back into the town. It was a formality at this point, honestly.
I knew these guys by name... Okay, that was a lie. I forgot their names a few minutes after meeting them, and it was too awkward to ask now.
I walked back into the mission building, submitting my report, which I had to learn how to write that whole thing like it was an essay, but I managed.
After getting that done, I walked over to the mission list again, looking it over, before inserting my license into it and watching as the missions filtered for a moment, before raising an eyebrow.
Aaaay~ my license got an upgrade, nice, I could go on higher ranking missions with other people now...
Fuck no.
Why would I ever do that?
I looked through the available missions and hummed absently, scratching my chin.
Cattle going missing in a village a week away? Too far away.
Boarbatusks sighting? Possible.
"oooh~"
I hummed curiously, keeping my eyes on the one around the middle that caught my eye.
Deathstalker elimination~ There could be an Alpha there, I wanted that boss drop; even if it wasn't guaranteed, it was good pay.
I reached out and tapped the mission; the window it was in shrank before going down as my license beeped lightly.
I pulled it out and pocketed it, turning to walk out of the building. I wouldn't be heading out yet, too suspicious to leave in the middle of the night.
So I would have to leave in the morning, which meant I had more free time... Ugh.
I never expected my only weakness to be boredom.
That and also kind of sucking at fighting, everything I do is trial and error so far.
So, I found a good rooftop with a nice view after going through some alleyways, lying back on the floor, which was ironically also the roof, and stared up at the stars.
This was nice, despite the oddities; I could rely on the night to always be the same... As long as the broken moon was ignored, that is.
This whole thing has been a lot tamer than I thought it would be, no dramatic villain entrances when I'm alone in the woods, letting me know of my imminent demise, only to be proven wrong when I do die and come back like a second later.
No random woman who's secretly the queen of the whole world asking for help and then going on a whole ass quest with me to defeat the big bad evil guy.
All I had to do was do missions, enjoy life, and not look like a Hobo...
I blinked and looked down at myself...
I looked like a hobo... Shit, I forgot to buy some clothes.
A groan of annoyance left me as I sat up, wondering if any clothing shops would be open at this hour. Seriously, it's like I forget the most important things sometimes... And a map, I should also get a damn map.
I don't even know where the ticket for the boat I was getting was going.
Jumping from the roof, I landed on the ground, straightening up and starting my search for a twenty-four-hour shop... There wasn't one.
I walked around the town for a few hours.
