Chapter 1 - [Chapter 1: Pilot]

Chapter 1: Pilot

The first thing Kyle Greyson felt was warmth. Not the sterile heat of a hospital bed, nor the suffocating blaze of fire—but a mother's embrace. His vision was blurry and his limbs were weak, but the sensation of being held and loved was unmistakable.

He looked up.

Above him, a woman with black hair and tired eyes smiled down. Her face was lined with exhaustion, but her gaze shimmered with affection. "You're awake," she said, brushing a hand across his forehead.

Kyle didn't respond. Not because he didn't want to—but because he couldn't. His mind was racing, he was just watching his favorite show then his phone blew up.

And now this.

He turned his head slowly, taking in the room. It was modest—wooden floors, cream-colored walls, a shelf lined with books and family photos. One photo caught his eye: a tall man with a square jaw and piercing eyes stood beside the woman, arm around her shoulder. Between them was a boy—slightly younger than Kyle, with messy black hair and a goofy grin.

Mark Greyson.

Kyle's breath hitched.

This was the world of Invincible.

He'd watched the show. Read the comics. He knew what was coming. Nolan Greyson—Omni-Man—wasn't the hero Earth believed him to be. And Mark… Mark was about to awaken powers that would thrust him into a war he couldn't comprehend.

Kyle sat up, heart pounding. "What year is it?" he asked, voice hoarse.

Debbie blinked. "2021. You hit your head pretty hard during training yesterday. Are you sure you're okay?"

Training?

Kyle looked down at his body. It was well-defined and polished, but even he knew that this alone wasn't enough to survive.

Then, a chime echoed in his mind.

[SYSTEM INITIALIZING…]

Welcome, Host, you have entered the world of "Invincible.

"Due to an error, the system will now terminate.

Remaining assets: Beginner's Package.

Opening package…

Kyle's eyes widened as five glowing icons appeared before him, visible only to his mind's eye.

Saiyan Bloodline Card – "Used to acquire the bloodline of a Saiyan warrior with no defects."

Identify – "Skill acquired. Allows analysis of any object or being."

Mobile PocketDimension – "Accessible via thought. Includes training room, living quarters, and more."

PowerNeutralizer – "Skill acquired. Can nullify superpowers (not body related one's such as super strength, speed, regeneration, and flight)."

ImmortalPhysique – "Passive. You will not age or die. Regeneration active."

Kyle's breath caught. This wasn't just a second chance—it was a cosmic cheat code.

He silently activated the Saiyan Bloodline Card.

A golden light enveloped him, and for a moment, he felt every cell in his body ignite. Muscles tightened, bones strengthened, and his senses sharpened. His hair remained black—but he could feel it now, alive with latent power. He was a Saiyan. A warrior race born to fight, evolve, and conquer.

But he wasn't here to conquer.

He was here to survive.

And maybe… to save.

"Mark!" Debbie called out, turning toward the hallway. "Kyle's up!"

Footsteps echoed, and a moment later, Mark Greyson burst into the room. "Dude! You're awake! I thought you were gonna be out for days."

Kyle smiled. "Hey, bro."

Mark grinned and tackled him in a hug. "You scared the crap out of me. Dad said you were pushing yourself too hard again."

Kyle's eyes flicked toward the doorway. Nolan Greyson stood there, arms crossed, expression unreadable.

"Kyle," he said, voice deep and commanding. "Glad to see you're back on your feet."

Kyle nodded slowly. "Thanks… Dad."

It felt strange saying it. But he had to play the part. For now.

Nolan stepped forward, placing a hand on Kyle's shoulder. "You've got potential son. But you need to be careful, those without power shouldn't chase it."

Kyle met his gaze. "I understand."

But inside, he was scanning.

[Identify: Nolan Greyson]

Name: Nolan Greyson

Alias: Omni-Man

Race: Viltrumite

Age: 2,000+

Mission: Subjugate Earth

Skills: Flight, Super Strength, Invulnerability, Combat Mastery

Kyle's stomach turned.

It was real. All of it.

He had one month before Nolan slaughtered the Guardians of the Globe, one month before Mark awakened his powers, and one month to prepare.

And he would.

He had a pocket dimension to train in. A power neutralizer to level the playing field. An immortal body to withstand any punishment. And Saiyan blood that would grow stronger with every battle.

He would protect Mark, Debbie, and those he cared about.

As for Nolan, he'd protect him too, for now
