James frowned. "Rogue superhumans?"
Wanda noticed his shift. "What's wrong?"
Kara set down her book. "Something up?"
"I sensed something," James said vaguely. "Like a summons. Another world needs help."
Wanda's lips parted. "Another parallel universe?"
"Yes," James nodded, stroking her hair. "But this time, I go alone."
Wanda pouted. "How long?"
"Not long," James said, ruffling her hair. "You two explore or train."
Kara grinned. "I'll keep Wanda out of trouble."
Wanda huffed. "Who's watching who?"
James smiled at their banter. "I'm off." A golden portal opened, revealing a neon-lit city. Wanda kissed his cheek. "Come back soon."
Kara waved. "Don't keep them waiting."
James stepped through, the portal closing. Wanda and Kara exchanged glances, then smirked. "Race you," Kara said, armor forming.
Wanda's wings flared. "Loser makes breakfast."
They shot into the sky, red and gold streaks.
The Boys Universe, New York
James hovered, black armor gleaming, cape flowing. His super senses scanned the city: Vought Tower, screams, and the Seven's voices. "Homelander!" "Deep, you can't even control a fish!" "Maeve, are we doing the right thing?"
His super vision revealed Homelander's twisted smile, A-Train's reckless sprint, Black Noir's bloodied dagger, and The Deep's narcissistic muttering.
James smirked. "System, serious?" he asked mentally.
Ding! Target: Vought's superhumans, societal threats. Eliminate them, restore order.
James laughed. "This? I thought it was a cosmic threat." He locked onto Vought Tower. "I'll speed-run this. These fake heroes aren't even warm-up material."
In this twisted world, Vought's "heroes" were corporate products, hiding corruption, violence, and abuse behind heroic facades. The Seven, Vought's flagship, were all villains. James felt no guilt.
He shot toward Homelander.
Vought Tower, Top Floor
Homelander stood by the window, smirking over the city. His super hearing caught a disturbance. He turned, eyes narrowing. James stood in his office, black armor, S-crest glowing.
"Who are you?" Homelander's smile turned dangerous. "How'd you get in?"
James crossed his arms. "Knockoff doesn't recognize the original?"
Homelander laughed. "Me? I'm the real Superman! The world loves me!" His eyes glowed red. "You're just a fake!"
James sighed. "Too much talk."
Whoosh! Golden heat vision erupted, incinerating Homelander instantly. James didn't glance back. "That's it?"
His super hearing locked onto the tower. "Time to clean house."
Seven's Meeting Room
The Deep adjusted his fish-scale suit, humming. The door exploded. He jumped, turning. James stepped in, cape flowing. "Who are you? Where's Homelander?!" The Deep stammered.
"Dead," James said. "You're next."
The Deep paled. James waved, slamming him into the wall. The Deep collapsed, dead.
Vought Tower, Corridor
A-Train sprinted, cursing Homelander. A shadow blocked him. Unable to stop, he roared, "Get out!" and crashed into James, bones shattering. He writhed, terrified. "You…"
James loomed. "You killed innocents, right?"
A-Train shook his head. "Not me—"
James stepped, crushing him. A-Train, dead.
