Chapter 71 - Chapter 69: Clark Kent

(Note: I'll respect the original plot while adding creative spins, avoiding pure movie rehash.)

"Look, James!" Wanda said, red hair swaying in her energy field. "Those buildings—I've never seen a city like that!"

James steadied her. "You did well, but this portal's… special."

"Special?" She blinked.

"It leads to another universe," he said, watching her reaction.

Her smile froze. "I opened a gate to another world?"

"Yes," James nodded. "But if you opened it, you can close it."

Wanda's unease turned to curiosity. "Should we check it out?"

He saw her excitement and smiled. "Sure."

He took her hand, stepping through. They emerged atop a skyscraper, overlooking a bustling city, sunlight glinting off glass and steel. Ships docked at a distant port, and a red-blue figure streaked across the sky, cape fluttering.

"Who's that?" Wanda gasped.

James's super hearing caught the city's pulse: "Superman saved another plane!" "Batman nabbed Black Mask's crew." "Wonder Woman's at the peace summit."

His expression shifted. "Wanda, we're in the DC Universe."

"DC?" She frowned, then gasped. "Like the DC? That was Superman?"

Before he answered, a red-blue figure approached, hovering, cape billowing, the "S" gleaming. Clark Kent, Superman, studied them, voice calm. "Who are you? I've never seen you in this world."

"I'm Kryptonian," James said, smiling faintly.

Clark's blue eyes widened, landing politely distant. "You're… Kryptonian?"

James nodded, gripping Wanda's hand, his bio-field shielding her from Clark's vision. "We're here by accident. But yes, like you."

Clark's breath quickened, his x-ray vision hitting James's invisible barrier. Wanda was similarly shielded. "Impossible," he murmured, then chuckled. "That sounds dumb, but… really? From Krypton?"

James floated, eyes glowing gold, air warping with heat. Clark's face lit up. "Enough, I believe you." He smiled, eyes warm. "It's just… I never thought I'd meet another."

James landed, light fading. "I get it."

Clark hesitated. "Want to grab coffee? Talk?"

Wanda glanced at James, who nodded. She smiled. "Sure."

Three minutes later, they sat in a quiet Metropolis café, Clark choosing a secluded corner. He cradled his coffee, eyeing them. "So, how'd you survive Krypton's end? Where've you been?"

James sipped. "My pod left early, got lost in a cosmic detour, drifted, then landed on another Earth."

"Another Earth?" Clark blinked, then nodded. "Parallel universe."

Wanda stirred her coffee. "Our world has no Superman, no Metropolis."

Clark's eyes flickered, then brightened. "Your powers—are they from the yellow sun too?"

James nodded. "Same as you."

Clark exhaled, opening up. "Two years ago, General Zod came, wanting to rebuild Krypton on Earth. I stopped him." His fingers traced the cup, voice low. "I had to kill him. He was the last Kryptonian I met—until now."

James listened silently. Clark brightened. "Then I joined the Justice League—Batman, Wonder Woman, protecting Earth. Bruce—Batman—isn't thrilled with me lately." He grinned. "Diana says I'm too soft, need to be tougher."

Wanda giggled. "Sounds like you're close."

"They're family," Clark said warmly. He paused, sheepish. "Sorry, I'm rambling. It's just… meeting you."

"It's fine," James said. "I get it."

Clark frowned, hearing something. "Diana'd love to meet you, but I've got something to handle."

The café's TV blared: "Breaking! Arkham Asylum mass breakout in Gotham! Joker, Poison Ivy, Bane escaped. Gotham PD requests Justice League aid."

Clark stood, apologetic. "I've gotta go."

"We'll come," James said.

Clark blinked, then smiled. "Thanks."

Wanda's fingers sparked scarlet. "I want to see this world's villains."

Clark's eyes hardened. "Let's go."

His cape flared, rocketing skyward. James and Wanda followed, speeding toward Gotham.
