Night, S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters
In an underground meeting room, a hologram of James in his black armor rotated, golden eyes piercing. Nick Fury's single eye scanned the team. "The world needs insurance, and Superman…"
He tapped the table, data streaming beside James's image. "He's our biggest variable. We need him."
Adam Bernard, in the corner, toyed with blue antimatter energy, watching James catch a crashing plane. "His power's not mutant or serum-based. Kryptonian?"
"Doesn't matter," Fury said. "With you, Banner, and Hydra's tech, we're building something. Canada's fight hit nuclear levels, and that wasn't your peak."
Banner adjusted his glasses. "He's saving people—Bombay, Chile, even sealing a nuclear leak. He's not a threat. Recruit him peacefully."
"That's why he's dangerous," Fury countered, showing James basking in space. "Why would someone who bathes in stars care about ants?"
Natasha smirked, twirling a knife. "Moral debate time? Clint and I just follow orders."
Clint checked an arrow's chip. "Last time we 'invited' Banner, we nearly lost a mountain."
Fury displayed Tony's Monaco fight, armor forming instantly. "We don't need Superman directly. Start with his partner."
Adam frowned. "Stark'll cooperate?"
"He will," Fury said. "He's a businessman. He knows deals."
Clint adjusted his earpiece. "So, contact Stark, then Superman through him?"
"Exactly. Superman's a ghost otherwise," Fury said. "Natasha, Clint, approach Stark. Be friendly."
"Friendly?" Natasha raised an eyebrow. "Sure it's not a honey trap?"
"If it works," Fury deadpanned.
Banner interjected, "If Stark says no?"
Fury's eye narrowed. "Then he'll learn S.H.I.E.L.D.'s invites are non-negotiable."
Adam spoke up. "If Superman's with us, the world changes."
"Or worsens," Fury muttered. "An unchecked god is the ultimate threat."
Silence fell.
"Action time?" Natasha asked.
"Tomorrow," Fury said. "Stark's at a Monaco party tonight, back in New York tomorrow. Meet him at the airport."
Natasha stood, smiling faintly. "Hope he likes friendly chats."
Fury paused at the door. "Superman joins, willingly or not. We'll convince him."
Long Island Villa
James, on the balcony, glanced toward S.H.I.E.L.D.'s direction, golden eyes glinting. "Let's see how you invite me."
Wanda approached with a fruit plate. "What're you looking at?"
"Nothing," James said, grabbing a melon slice. "Rest up. Tomorrow's a show."
"A show?" Wanda tilted her head.
"A mouse trying to catch a cat," he said, opening a portal to a library.
Wanda blinked, puzzled, but retreated to her room, glancing back as James watched the stars.
