New York Skies
James hovered above the clouds, super vision piercing the atmosphere, locking onto a cloaked ship. Its angular design and optical camouflage were useless against him.
"Kree Empire scout ship?" he murmured, frowning.
The ship's hatch opened, revealing a tall figure in blue armor, red eyes glowing coldly under a helmet.
"Curious Earthling," a mechanized voice boomed. "Your body is unique. Come with us to the Kree Empire."
James squinted. "Sorry, Superman's not for sale."
The Kree warrior paused, then raised an arm, an energy cannon charging. "Then, death."
ZAP!
A particle beam tore through the air, striking James's forehead. Light flared, but he emerged unscathed.
"That's it?" he sneered, eyes blazing red.
The Kree's systems screamed warnings. He retreated, activating shields.
Too late.
ZAP! BOOM!
James's heat vision pierced the shield and armor, melting a hole through the warrior's chest. Vital signs flatlined.
"Impossible…" the Kree gasped, voice fading. "Who… are you?"
"Superman."
James turned to the fleeing ship. "Running?"
He broke the sound barrier, a black bolt chasing the vessel. The Kree's engines roared, but James was faster.
One punch.
BOOM!
The hull crumpled like paper, the ship tumbling in space, sparks flying.
James hovered before it, arms crossed, staring at the panicked Kree crew. "Next life, choose your targets better," his voice echoed in their minds. "Earth is my turf."
Reading their data, he learned their goal: the Tesseract. He raised a hand, heat vision slicing the engines. The ship plummeted toward the Atlantic.
"Jarvis, track its crash site," Tony's voice crackled as he arrived, hovering nearby. "We need that wreck!"
James nodded, watching the ship fall. Turning to Tony, he said, "The Kree want the Tesseract."
"Great, an alien empire's on our case," Tony quipped. "How'd they know about the stones?"
"Probably caught the space ripples," James mused. "We need to prep—the Kree won't quit."
Tony's faceplate opened, expression grim. "So we just pissed off a star empire?"
"Pretty much," James shrugged.
"Fantastic," Tony rolled his eyes. "Knew hanging with you was trouble."
"Regrets?" James teased.
"Ha!" Tony grinned, faceplate snapping shut. "This beats clean energy any day!"
They hovered above New York, city lights twinkling below. Threats loomed, but James's eyes were calm.
"Come on, Tony," he said, flying toward Stark Tower. "We've got work."
Tony followed, thrusters flaring blue. "Like what?"
James smirked. "Like putting an artificial sun in our armors."
Tony's laugh echoed. "Now you're talking!"
In the night, their figures streaked toward the tower.
Stark Tower Lab
The micro artificial sun floated on the central platform, casting golden light. Tony stood at the hologram, tweaking parameters, brow furrowed.
"Output's stable, but the confinement field's still fluctuating," he muttered, tapping a variable.
James, eyes glowing faintly, scanned the reactor's plasma flow. "Adjust Uru's magical resonance by 0.3%," he said, pointing to a node.
Tony raised an eyebrow. "You measure magic with your eyes now?"
"Habit," James shrugged.
Tony snorted, adjusting the setting. The energy curve smoothed, fluctuations gone.
"Perfect!" Tony grinned. "Jarvis, log this. Default to it next time."
"Logged, sir," Jarvis replied.
"Good. Start integration."
Hours later, Tony whistled, arms crossed, admiring two nano-armors rotating in blue light. His was gold-red, sleek and metallic, the chest's artificial sun core pulsing gold.
James's was black, etched with golden runes, the "S" emblem subtly glowing, energy flow restrained.
"Gorgeous, right?" Tony slapped James's shoulder. "Yours has magical flair, synced perfectly with your bio-field."
James touched his armor; nano-particles flowed like water, molding to his fingers. "Solid response speed. Good energy conduction."
"Of course!" Tony boasted. "Vibranium nano-structure, Uru's magic—it can take high-level impacts."
"Theoretically?" James teased.
Tony shrugged. "Maybe a bit less, but it'll hold up in a fight. Your bio-field will shield it anyway."
James smirked. Tony: …
