"This....this is amazing," Trevor murmured, scooping another spoonful of spaghetti into his mouth. He leaned back, enjoying the flavour of the dish set before him.
He sat at the far end of the cafeteria, his table filled with spaghetti, meatballs, chicken, and steamy rolls of bread. A lot of food for one person, but Trevor didn't care. He wasn't worried about money since he had a lot of savings. He reached forward, grabbed a leg of chicken, and proceeded to tear the meat into pieces.
He just couldn't help himself. It was so delicious. He was only like this because he became so poor, he was not able to eat properly. That was how food terrorised the poor. They become dogs, ready to do anything that will give them money to be able to buy food.
He spooned spaghetti into his mouth and began to munch loudly, oblivious to the obvious stares emanating from students from other tables, gazing at his eating pattern and the amounts of food.
"Yo, I may be dreaming," A guy whispered to his friend. "But is Trevor eating all that by himself.
"I think so," His friend answered. "And he's not feeling fatigued or dizzy from eating those. He's completely serious."
Trevor grabbed a soft roll and munched on it, finishing it in seconds.
He drank a gulp of soda and exhaled.
"Being young and healthy really is awesome." He muttered.
He stared at his tray and spooned another mouthful of spaghetti into his mouth.
"How come I was not enjoying it.?" Trevor asked himself. He then remembered the past. He was a picky eater, refusing some foods and asking the cook. He also remembered using his allowances to pay for food for Lily, who either refused it or dumped it openly in the trash.
Even till now, he still shuddered at how stupid he was. How couldn't he see what was going on? Was he so blind? But that was the power of blind love, or maybe stupid infatuation because he was used every single time.
He gave a silent belch and picked up the empty tray walking to the return station. He was going to ask for more.
"Hey, what are you doing here? How dare you stand in our way?"
Trevor's hungry smile evaporated, replaced by a deep frown. He turned to see Lily behind him, her gaze on her phone, acting like he didn't exist. Behind her were her two friends: Jenna and Maya.
He sighed and turned back, mentally face-palming at his bad luck. The very people he didn't want to see yet and here they were disturbing him.
"Can I have another plate of spaghetti with meatballs, three soft bread rolls and a fizzy drink, please?" He asked the cook.
"I asked what the fuck you are doing in our way, get lost!" Jenba spat in anger, hating being ignored.
Trevor didn't say anything, just continued waiting for his food. Maya bumped his shoulder with her own, not with force but for attention.
"Why are you acting like you're the victim? You're the one pestering Lily, and it has become annoying? Say sorry and let ig return to normal." Maya said.
"Why should I say sorry," Trevor asked.
"What do you mean why?" Jenba spat out. "You've been embarrassing Lily everywhere."
"I have only been trying to talk to her." Trevor pointed out. "She could have easily told me to stop, ghat she's not interested. I did things for her. She only started complaining when Jayden started getting interested in her, just like a fucking gold digger."
Lily's eyes dimmed, still, gazing at her phone, but she didn't say anything.
"How...how dare....." Jenna began, red with anger. But Trevor carried his food and walked back to his own table. Jenba followed him, still pissed.
"You're just a fucking psycho," Jenba said. "Showing your true face after finally being rejected. You're just a bloody hypocrite."
"Think whatever you want," Trevor spoke, already munching. "Get lost. I'm done with her."
"What do you mean done?" Jenna snorted. "Aren't you supposed to pay for our lunch?"
"Huh?" Trevor coughed, choking after hearing that statement. He gulped down soda. "Sorry, can you repeat yourself?"
"You heard me?" Jenna said. "Pay for embarrassing Lily in front of everyone."
"Then what happened to you two?" Trevor pointed out.
"We are her close friends." She replied. "That's enough for an answer."
"One question," Trevor asked. "Has the madness that has been buried inside you finally possessed you? Or you already had it since?"
"Are you----" Jenna was about to rant.
"It's enough, Jenna." Lily finally spoke.
"But...."
"Just ignore him," Lily said, cutting her off. "He's not worth it."
May huffed. "You're so mature, Lily. If it were me, I wouldn't forgive him even if he begs."
"Then it's great it's not you," Trevor said, munching on a chicken leg. "Now scram."
"Don't worry, I'll pay." Just as expected from Trevor, Jayden walked up to them, gave a little nod to Lily, and paid for them.
Jenna immediately smiled. "Thanks, Jayden."
"No problem." Jayden smiled his disarming smile. "Go eat. I just want to have a little bro talk with Trevor."
"Oh, boy." Trevor groaned internally. "Not this guy. Why can't I eat I peace?"
